Paul Batz is the owner and operator of Hammer and Anvil Blacksmith and Farrier Service. A native of Western New York, he took an interest in horses at an early age and began riding at 4 years old. After receiving an Associates Degree in Animal Science from SUNY Morrisville he began apprenticing with accomplished local farriers Norm Foley and Ronnie Forbes and went on to complete the Farrier Science program at Cornell Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine, under the guidance of Michael Wildenstein. Paul specializes in providing foot care for the equine athlete, shoeing performance horses from a variety of disciplines. With a strong background in therapeutic work, he frequently works from local veterinary hospitals treating disease processes of the foot and aiding in lameness diagnostics. He continues to ride and train his own horses in Avon, New York. Paul is dedicated to offering a common sense approach to shoeing and horsemanship benefiting both horse and rider.
