I offer instruction in classical dressage-based horsemanship for any level of rider. My methods are based on 'Old World' military horsemanship that takes the techniques of training horses for jousting, mounted archery, mounted combat, etc. and adapts them to practical horsemanship. These methods are rooted in centuries of study in the nature and biomechanical interplay between horse and rider, handed down from master to student, throughout most of recorded history. No force or coercion is used in this style of training, but rather the goal is trust and forming a partnership, conditioning and making the horse supple, with the goal of improving their ability to carry the rider, athletically, for many happy years. If this sounds like the better aspects of what is now called "Natural Horsemanship, well the classical masters had a name for it, they called it "Horsemanship". :)

I offer horse riding lessons for beginner through advanced riders and will tailor your lesson to your individual goals and needs. I also enjoy working with children and sharing my love of horses with them. For beginners and children, I will cover all the basics needed, including grooming, saddling, care, and maintenance. For the intermediate and advanced rider, I will work with you to create a lesson plan that will take you to where you want to go.

While I offer a variety of programs and disciplines, all my instruction is based on using the aids in the most efficient way to get results.

Kathy Casey is a Grand Prix dressage trainer, instructor, and competitor. She is also in the process of getting her small R Judge certification ( she is already an experienced L Judge).
Kathy has been a professional in the Equine industry for over 25 years. In 2005, she moved from her home base in Bend Oregon, to Sherwood, Oregon. Before dressage, she competed
in the 3 day event and hunter jumper arena. She gave up jumping as soon as there was enough interest in dressage in Central Oregon, as dressage was always what she enjoyed most.

Always striving to achieve more, she has attended many USDF seminars with top trainers and judges, meanwhile bringing her horses in training through the levels. Moksha, E.F.M.
Desperado, and Voltaire are 3 that she started under saddle and trained all the way to Grand Prix. Klaas was a Knapp Friesian with whom she won the Oregon State training level
Championship and many more State and Regional Championships.

Kathy has worked with every breed imaginable and finds all types of horses and every level of dressage equally interesting. She focuses on the basics, relaxation, straightness, and

We offer private and group lessons in English and Western styles of riding along with Pony Pizza Play Days, Pony Planet and Mom and Me classes for the younger riders.
Cowgirl/Cowboy Birthday parties are available year round in our western themed party room. We cowboy/girl up with hats and bandannas and read the "onceuponahorse" story book.
