Farrier in Illinois

I graduated from Midwest Horseshoeing School in December 2006. Then I completed a 3 year apprenticeship. Now I have 18 years experience under my belt. I can honestly say "I still love my job."
I invest a lot of time continuing my education. Whether your horse is a multiple world champion or he has only been trained to eat & be beautiful, I trim them all with the highest standard. I advocate for horses to be allowed to remain barefoot, but sometimes shoes are necessary. I have shoed hundreds of horses, from basic keg shoes to building an elaborate stacked toe weight shoe package for upper level Saddlebreds.
Older horses may take a little longer time to trim & I respect that fact. It's imperative to be patient when trimming young horses or horses that have been mistreated in the past.
$50 per trim
$ extra for draft breeds
$ trip fee is calculated by mileage, round trip

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's in Animal Science with nutrition as my main focus in 2012. I studied the physiology and anatomy of horses while I worked for and managed the university horse farm. During this time I became a certified barefoot trimmer with emphasis on navicular and founder rehab through Ida Hammer studying the methods of Pete Ramey. During my apprenticeship I trimmed over 3,000 hooves covering all types of lamenesses founder, whiteline disease and thrush problems.
I have since found a better way of trimming which targets run forward/crushed low heels and works to restore them. This increases the soundness of the horse drastically and the thickness of the sole. It also increases the size of the hoof and therefore the stability of the horse.

I am a natural hoof trimmer. I do not put shoes on horses. I trim the horse based on the great basin wild horses feet. It will never be an actual wild horses foot but at the end of my trim it will sure be as close as possible.
