My name is Katie Garrett and I am a Barefoot Trimmer in the North Cascades! Offering corrective and preventative hoof care for horses and ponies of all shapes, sizes, and disciplines. I take all aspects of each horse into consideration when trimming; existing conformation, type/amount of riding, paddock terrain, age, health, nutrition, etc... I will pull shoes and am experienced in transitioning horses from shod to barefoot. I have an eye for detail and take my time with each hoof. I am also a Scootboots.com dealer

I travel to Snohomish/Fall City every 3 weeks. I also service Chelan, Ellensburg, and Quincy.

I am kind, courteous, prompt, and always return phone calls. I believe in the balanced, barefoot horse of any shape, size, and discipline. I am an advocate for the horse.

Some horses require shoes for protection of the hoof, to maintain traction, the intended riding discipline, work and labor aspects, or for therapeutic reasons. Some horses need shoes… others do not. I will not sell you a product or service your horse does not require.

I carry a wide variety of keg shoes in my inventory and can modify that shoe for a perfect fit to your horse. I can also build a wide variety of custom made shoes from straight bar stock for special event horses or for therapeutic/corrective purposes. When necessary, I can also apply synthetics for hoof reconstruction and for treatment of multiple lameness issues.

I am a graduate of Pacific Coast Horse Shoeing School (PCHS), 2013.

I will be happy to provide you with evidence of my certifications upon request in regards to the disciplines of Farrier Science, Equine Anatomy, Conformation and its Relationship to Soundness, Equine Lameness, and Forge Principles and Applications. If you have questions, I am happy to answer them.

I am also certified as a professional farrier through the American Farrier’s Education Council (AFEC), 2013.

South Fork Farrier Service offers well balanced natural barefoot trims in Skagit, Snohomish, Whatcom and Island Counties. Also open to travel further for the right group of equine.
I attended Walla Walla Community College and studied under Jeff Engler in 2018/2019. I have over 5 years experience as a farrier.
We also offer trims for Goats, Sheep and occasionally Pig's!
Tons of experience working under Senior horses, young horses and horses that come from a line of abusive back grounds. We are comfortable working on Studs as long as they have a good handler to keep them in line.
I will soon be offering Basic and Therapeutic shoes February 2024!
