Summer Camp at Southern Cross Stables 2017
Camp at Southern Cross Stables includes:
Horsemanship Skills
Safely approach, halter, lead & tie a horse; groom the horse, learn the parts of the horse; tack up; stall cleaning and barn chores.

Riding
Campers who are beginners will learn to mount and dismount; ride at the walk on the lunge line; halt properly and accurately from the walk; work on confidence building exercises and stretches; guide the horse at the walk; and walk the horse accurately over patterns of poles and cones. Trot work will be introduced on the lunge line. Campers will be evaluated for higher skill levels, and work based on their abilities.

Supervised Swimming
Campers will need to bring a bathing suit, towel, rubber flip flops or sandals, and a bag for their damp swim gear.

Games, activities and videos
Campers will have age-appropriate, noncompetitive recreational and educational sessions .
Adjustments will be made based on the age of the camper.

Flip Flop Farm is an equestrian facility specializing in Hunter, Jumper, and Western Pleasure riding and training. Horse crazy campers will learn about horses including grooming, care, safety, breeds, different riding disciplines,and more. M & M Equine Training provides children ages 6 to 15 with an opportunity to learn about horses and horsemanship in a fun and exciting summer camp program. Our weekly day camps are designed to benefit both the beginner and as well as students with prior knowledge and experience of horses. We believe that participating in our summer horse camp is a great way to build your child's self-confidence and help them develop good decision making skills. Attending horse camp promotes independence while learning responsibility and cooperation.

Students will learn about every aspect of the horse from grooming and tacking up to nutrition and basic care. Each week we will bring in a professional such as a veterinarian or farrier to discuss new topics about the horse. Students will have the opportunity to ask this professional questions and see first hand how to properly care for a horse.

Students will also learn the parts of the horse, common illness and diseases, breeds, proper care of tack and equipment, different riding disciplines and SO MUCH MORE! Daily riding sessions are catered to the individual needs of each student and their ability and level of experience. We focus on teaching each rider to have a balanced seat and a soft hand. Our ponies and horses are amazing teachers and will take care of each rider as they learn. How fast the individual advances all depends on that individual. Ranch camp - Students welcome to come for a day to all summer! Ages 4 and up! We have horses, cows (lots of show cows), goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, fish, donkeys, mules, draft horses, mini horses, ponies, dogs, cats, and usually a few bottle animals!
