This is a basic wilderness program designed to improve the rider’s stamina. We will spend long hours in the saddle and learn all about riding on trail, horsemanship and safety.

Hogany Tops Farm has been on sabbatical for some time due to health and extensive surgery. I am so blessed to be able to relocate and open our doors again! We welcome everyone of all ages and levels to our program!

Hogany Tops has openings in our riding lesson and training programs and we would love to help you excel in your riding, whether it is for competition or pleasure, or to help you with your green horse/pony or your made up horse/pony continuing to improve! We teach and train at our facility or we can come to yours.

Hogany Tops Farm is a hunter jumper training and lesson barn located just outside of Dallas, TX, in beautiful Edgewood, TX, dedicated to establishing superior horsemanship with physically fit, willing and content, well trained horses and riders. Accordingly, a consistent training routine and at least a minimum lesson program are pertinent to accomplish this goal. Training and instruction, specializing in hunters, jumpers and equitation are designed with the horse and rider in mind and customized to fit each one’s individual abilities and objectives to reach their full potential. We focus on correct equitation in the jumpers as well as the hunters. All good riding is based on dressage as a foundation. Hours spent on the flat ultimately produce a fluid ride over fences in the hunters and an accurate and powerful ride occurring in a timely fashion in the jumpers.
All levels of riders, beginner through advanced are welcome in our lesson program and we have wonderful lesson horses for those who do not have one! HTF provides the opportunity to horse show at both local and national competitions. Hogany Tops Farm offers quality horses and ponies for sale or lease.
Hogany Tops Farm originated in 1985 in Macon, Georgia. The business is owned and operated by Jo Beard, who was born, raised and educated in Virginia. Her love for and association with horses began at an early age, in the family barn, which at the age of eight led her to horse shows and fox hunts with her father. Her journey with horses continued to the professional level when at the age of 18 she was schooling, training, and showing horses and ponies and catch-riding at horse shows. Her professional focus centered on hunters and jumpers and as she developed her own riding skills, she became involved in the sport of steeplechase racing and took that to a highly successful professional level as one of two licensed female steeplechase jockeys in the United States. She has subsequently trained and owned hundreds of show horses and has consistently been successfully involved in both local and national horse show competition. Today, her focus is on the interest of her clients and their goals and aspirations. She has the experience (over 40 years of teaching all levels), and the skills and patience to take them where they want to go. Both Jo’s children and grandchildren are also very successful and well known in the hunter jumper world! Jo’s extensive experience in the industry has created a wide network of friends and professional associates nationwide. Referrals will be gladly given upon request.

Five Field Farm offers Spring, Summer, and Winter Camps! A great way for your young horse-lover to learn to ride and care for horses while making new friends!

We offer weekly English riding camps during the month of June. We have a beautiful 21 acre facility in the country just minutes from McKinney by Lake Lavon. Campers will participate in scheduled activities including riding lessons, horse care, stable management, swimming, crafts, and games. We have well- trained horses and an experienced instructor. In The Irons offers children's camps for beginner and intermediate riders.
Our beginner camp for 2014 will be June 16-20, 9am-1pm. Beginner riders spend one half of their camp day in the saddle navigating obstacle courses and playing games all while learning the basics of riding. When not riding, the campers do horse related arts and crafts and learn about horses with "hands on" activities.
We will be doing Quadrille Camp with intermediate riders June 16-21 9am-2pm. Quadrille is a choreographed dressage ride, commonly performed to music, which is often compared to an equestrian ballet or to a drill team. A minimum of four horses are used, although many times more (always in pairs), which perform movements together. Quadrille Camp is an exciting and challenging experience that helps to develop confidence and teaches teamwork. These campers also do arts and crafts and other horse themed educational activities. We have a performance for parents and family members on the last day of camp where the campers show off their quadrilles followed by an awards presentation.

Horsemanship Day Camps offer quality horse riding and horse care instruction to riders. We work with riders of all different riding skills from those who have never touched a horse before to those who are headed to the show ring or a career with horses. Each day, campers will enjoy quality arena lessons, horse care classes, trail rides, Bible studies, crafts, sports and praise and worship times. Spiritual principles and themes are integrated throughout the day in all camper activities. Skilled riding instructors and caring counselors guide campers through a day filled with fun adventures with horses.
