Several openings for full care and field care boarding in Harford County, conveniently located just minutes off of I95. 3 rings, small cross country course, and access to trails - all disciplines are welcome! We also offer multiple horse discounts.


FIELD BOARD: Large fields with small groups segregated by mares and geldings. All fields have run-in sheds and tree lines. Field board horses receive grain twice each day along with hay. Cost is $315/month

FULL BOARD: Horses are on a 12/12 schedule, in at night in fall/winter; out at night in spring/summer. Fans provided for summer months. Twice daily feedings and daily stall mucking with hay given both in stalls and in turnout. Horses are turned out in gender-appropriate groups. Cost is $400/month.

AMENITIES: Two lit outdoor stonedust riding rings as well as a lit indoor arena, all with jumps. Vet and farrier appointments regularly scheduled, or use your own. On site hunter jumper training. The property is on a quiet, picturesque, 13 acres of rolling farmland near Bowie Town Center, Maryland. The 13 acres include 6 acres of mature pasture with 5 paddocks, 1 acre of residence, and the rest are forest, pound, private riding trail and valley. The property has a 1/4 mile private new paved driveway, and is backed by the upper stream of the Patuxent River. The farm is less than 1 mile away from Walmart Shopping Center, 3 miles away from Bowie Town Center, less than 20 minutes driving distance to Annapolis, about 30 minutes to Fort Meade, less than 40 minutes driving distance to Washington DC and about 45 minutes to Baltimore. You can also take New Carrollton Amtrak, or Green Belt metro station to Washington DC or many other places. To New Carrollton Amtrak metro stations is less 20 minutes driving, and about 35 minutes to the Green Belt one.

Welcome to Merkel Farms, a family owned and operated equestrian center run by Stephanie Serenati-Merkel. Merkel Farm is nestled between Bowie State University and the Patuxent Wildlife Preserve in Bowie, MD and is within easy reach from the Washington D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore metro areas. We have miles of trails surrounding the property. We also have a lighted indoor and outdoor ring which allows for boarders and lesson students to ride year round. We have two barns and two separately fenced fields for turnout. The outdoor and indoor rings are dragged throughout the year to maintain optimal footing for horses. Merkel Farms also runs a summer camp and host a winter show series.
