At SMR Equestrin, we believe that top performance begins with quality horse care. Our trainers oversee every aspect of the horses’ care, providing each horse with an individualized, comprehensive feed, care and training program. We feed only the highest quality of hay and feed and use high-quality low-dust shavings for the comfort of your horse. For the convenience of our clients and health of our horses, our board is all inclusive, ensuring that your horse is properly cared for year round, 24/7.

Board Includes:

Semi- Private Lessons and /or training rides, up to three times weekly
Supervised hacks
Arena turnout
Feeding and watering three times daily
Individualized feeding programs, including the administration of owner-provided supplements
Daily Stall cleaning
Daily Private or semi- private turnout
Blanketing with changing temperatures
Boots for turnout
Daily horse care (including wrapping)
First aid care and veterinary follow up (including hand walking)
Use of magnetic boots, ice boots and heating pads
Laundry service of wraps and pads
Coordinated shoeing, veterinary, and dental programs

We also offer a full training program, for those looking to take their horses and/or riding to the next level. Full training includes four or more lessons/training rides weekly.

Owners/riders receive the individual attention and quality instruction that has been proven to lead to continuous improvement and success in the show ring. Our trainers maintain a careful balance between fun and the hard work and discipline necessary to promote optimal improvement.

Our training philosophy focuses on teaching students not only to be successful show riders, but also to become successful horsewomen and men. At SMR Equestrian, we believe that horsemanship starts on the ground and the most successful riders are horsewomen and men first. Riders are taught proper care for the elite equine athlete and encouraged to take an active role in training and caring for their horses. Qualified riders are encouraged to participate in our working student program, which allows riders to help in the barn and hone their skills exercising and schooling a variety of SMR horses.

Emphasis is placed on having a correct and effective rider position as “form follows function”. Flatwork and position are honed in lessons and riders benefit from Sarah’s background in Psychology as they learn the necessary mental discipline and focus to reach the highest levels of riding and competition.

We combine our lessons with articles, videos (both educational and of oneself) and demonstration rides in order to provide a well-rounded learning experience that is suitable for all learning types. Riders and parents are encouraged to participate in regular meetings with training staff to discuss rider goals, help riders set attainable goals and create a plan for achieving their goals.

Our goal is not only to train the horse, but to strengthen, condition, and balance the horse in order to ensure optimal health and performance. Are you looking for a peaceful place to retire your horse? Whispering Willows Equine Retirement Home offers personalized retirement care for your older horse. We are a very small farm with the capacity of only four retirees so each one is truly a part of the family. Riding is not permitted on the property, but visiting and spending time with your horse is strongly encouraged. Here is what we offer.

Horses live in a lovely, rolling meadow with many trees for shade and a sturdy run-in shed to keep the weather out. A big plus is that there is no mud in the pasture because it is on higher ground than the surrounding land. Unfortunately, we do not have stalls at this time. They are fed good quality grass alfalfa mix hay from a local farm twice a day in the pasture. They are taken separately into the barn, groomed, and fed their grain twice a day with supplements added (if desired by owner). Blankets, if worn, are pulled off and checked at these times. At Constantine Farms we embrace riders from all backgrounds and disciplines including (but not limited to) dressage, jumping, western, eventing, cross country, gymkhana and vaulting. Our laid back and fun-loving atmosphere is an excellent respite from the daily grind, and we have boarders and riders of all ages.

Horses are brought in to be fed twice a day as owners see fit from a variety of available high-quality feeds (complete with supplements as provided by the owner) and ample quantities of quality hay are offered. The front horse pastures are large and rolling and are mowed and maintained, adjacent to a large summer pasture that we rotate. Horses are brought into their stalls in inclement weather conditions and are visually checked out each time they're brought in. Additionally, we have a separate field for smaller pastured ponies complete with run-in shelters.

Because of the wonderful indoor riding facilities, complete with enclosed observation room, boarders and leasers can enjoy riding their horses year round. Our well lit and maintained indoor, complete with overhead sprinklers for dust reduction, is large enough for large-ring dressage tests to be ridden, and a number of jump standards and poles are stored in close proximity for indoor jumping. There is also an outdoor riding arena for nicer weather and more jumping, nearly 50 acres of wooded trails adjacent to additional land for hacking, and new in 2011 a beginner-novice cross country course (including a few pre-beginner-novice jumps for green jumpers) is available for schooling and for an occasional schooling show.

We run a handful of schooling shows each year, and have instructors available who teach and train in dressage, jumping, eventing, gymkhana and western disciplines. We are a new, small family boarding facility catering to retirement horses and casual riding.
