Tara Best is the inspiration and driving force behind Stonehouse Stables, located on Lakewood Farm which is owned by Tara’s parents, Mayes and Cheryl Mathews. Growing up in Williamsburg and attending college at nearby Christopher Newport University, Tara brings her riding and teaching expertise as well as her business know how to this family owned and operated horse farm in Upper James City County.

Care for your horse can be easily individualized. 350$ a month includes grain, unlimited access to hay, unlimited access to shelter with a graded bluestone base, and heated trough in winter and fan in summer. Blanketing, fly spraying, and small first aid included. Night checks and thorough leg, hoof, and general wellness body checks each night and day so you can relax knowing eyes are always on your horse. We practice rotational grazing for pasture health and optimal parasite control. Each horse becomes a part of our family and treated with the same loving care.

Drinkwater Equestrian is a brand new facility in Williamsburg, Va. We have an 18 stall barn, each matted stall is 12x12 with an automatic water and Dutch door style window. We have a 130x230 lighted PVC fenced ring, four large turnouts and two smaller private turnouts. There is plenty of space to ride around the property and we are also minutes from a park with horse trails. We live on the property and take care of the horses ourselves. We take pride in the care we give our horses, my husband is a farrier and I am the hunter/jumper instructor and manager at Drinkwater Equestrian. We are open to all disciplines as well as having retired horses boarded.
