We offer stall boarding with turn out at 6am. We feed 1x or 2x daily depending on your preference. We clean stalls everyday to every other day depending on weather conditions. We bring in around 3pm in winter and 6pm in summer. We supply round bales to the pastures through winter months. We have a 80x180 indoor arena and a decent size round pen. We also have dirt roads surrounding our property and the PollyAnne trail is 1/4 of a mile down the road from the farm. We feed 10% sweet feed and 1st-2nd cutting hay. We are a full care boarding facility with a choice of stall board or pasture board. We have a 60x80 indoor, a 80x175 outdoor,and tack lockers for our boarders. Here your horse comes first! Each horse is feed per their own dietary needs. Horses are grained at least 2x a day and feed hay 3x a day. A de-worming program is included in our boarding prices. We are based in a lovely country setting and have numerous dirt roads to ride on.

At SMR Equestrian, we believe that horsemanship starts on the ground and the most successful riders are horsewomen and men first. Riders are taught proper care for the elite equine athlete and encouraged to take an active role in training and caring for their horses. Qualified riders are encouraged to participate in our working student program, which allows riders to help in the barn and hone their skills exercising and schooling a variety of SMR horses.

Emphasis is placed on having a correct and effective rider position as “form follows function”. Flatwork and position are honed in lessons and riders benefit from Sarah’s background in Psychology as they learn the necessary mental discipline and focus to reach the highest levels of riding and competition.

We combine our lessons with articles, videos (both educational and of oneself) and demonstration rides in order to provide a well-rounded learning experience that is suitable for all learning types. We understand that you have many choices when it comes to choosing a home for your horse. It's important that you feel comfortable with the care and safety of the facility and it is important that you feel comfortable with the people and the atmosphere of the barn. With that in mind, we offer worry free full service boarding. With the owner/ trainer, Jane Hall, living on site, you can be confident that your horse is always under a watchful eye. The 10 x 12 stalls are cleaned seven days a week, and your horse is turned out seven days a week, weather permitting. 24 hour turnout is also available during good weather. Hay is fed in the paddocks and when the horses are in, hay is fed four times a day. Quality Purina and Buckeye feeds are fed twice a day with supplements (provided by you) fed at no extra cost. Our indoor arena is 60 x 120, well lit and well ventilated, our dressage mirrors will help you check your position or see just what your horse is doing as you ride. We have a heated observation room with kitchenette and restroom.

Our boarders have been with us for 10+ years and have enjoyed the relaxed, fun environment. With Tuesday night potluck and riding, yoga night (yes, it does help you ride better!) wine tasting parties, games on horseback in the winter months when things can get boring. We travel to shows of all types and trail ride a lot! If it can be done on or with a horse, someone here has done it!

And men, this isn't a "girls only" barn. As the home of the Michigan Cavalry Brigade, we have men who ride here!
