Training is available for dressage, jumping, trail riding, ground manners, trailer loading, behavioral problems, and starting young horses. Heron Mead Equestrian Center's Owner and Head Trainer, Kari Stenberg, has a unique method with long lasting solutions for specific problems. Combining classical European dressage and eventing with Natural Horsemanship and her sharp eye for horse health and soundness, Kari trains effectively yet gently and brings out the best in each horse.
Training is customized for each horse. Specific goals and the amount of training will be discussed during the initial consultation. Special care is taken to include owner input throughout the entire training process.
Kari has successfully trained many ex-racehorses for careers as show or pleasure horses; started young horses for the track, show ring, and trail; and fixed behavioral issues both on the ground and under saddle. Her deep love and respect for all types of horses has served Kari well particularly while working with a wide variety of horses and ponies, including Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Shetlands, Welsh, Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Percherons, Belgians, Clydesdales, Friesians, Morgans, Oldenburgs, Swedish Warmbloods, Duth Warmbloods, Arabians, Paints, Pintos, Hafflingers, Tennessee Walkers, and Mustangs, among others. Owners are welcome to come and watch and, if interested, can get specific "horse training" lessons.
