I consider it a privilege to be able to share my life with horses.

Horse obsessed, I began to take riding lessons very young, my confidence grew & started training my own horses from start to finish. I've competed in the show circuit, favoring western pleasure classes. As an adult, I chose to follow my passion & began training horses full time for folks around Illinois. Then I enrolled at Midwest Horseshoeing School, graduating in 2006. Over the years I have built a strong business working with a wide variety of horse breeds, both as a gentle horse trainer & Farrier. I love my jobs!

Most recently, I found a way to blend my love of horses with 30 years of hands on experience in a way that helps people. November 1st, 2024 I founded a small non profit organization named Equine Eyes. I am training miniature service horses, specifically guide horses for the blind. Mini horses are an excellent mobility option for folks that cannot work with a guide dog due to allergies, religious beliefs, fear of K9, etc...

I use a combination of positive reinforcement & low pressure/release training modalities. I find that horses enjoy learning, choosing to engage in our training sessions.

For a person to win, it's not necessary for the horse to lose. You should not have to take things away from a horse or break him into fragments in order to train him; rather you should add to the horse. The goal is "making" not "breaking."

Experienced with the following:
✓Correctly start young horses under saddle.
✓Get to the root cause of problematic horses & help them to release the unresolved trauma.
✓Fine tune "cues" specific to your riding discipline.
✓Exposure to trail riding & in open fields.
✓Liberty training [no halter, no ropes] using positive reinforcement (R+) techniques... Ideal for horses that are too young/old to be ridden & miniatures.

The total fee for 1 month training = $800
This includes:
✓Full board ($400 value) - each horse has a private stall which opens to a large grass pasture. They can come in & go outside as they please. Horses have access to pasture grass & grass hay, provided 24/7. If you feed your horse grain bring a couple bags & I will feed it according to your directions.
✓Horse training that honors a horses choice ($400 value). 6 training sessions per 1 week, off on Sunday's.
✓Clients are encouraged to come at least once a week to participate with their horses training session. I am also willing to video record training sessions with your horse. I'm 100% transparent working with your horse.
✓I ask that you pay half ($400) when you bring your horse to my barn for their training, then pay the remaining half ($400) when you pick up your horse.

I have been around horses for 14 years and I have learned a lot along the way. I learned that bloodlines do matter when it comes to horses, different traits and personalities stand out, good and bad, I also learned that Groundwork is the most important part of training a horse, it is not just having a horse walk, trot, and canter both directions on a lunge line. You have to be able to get the horse to move their feet forwards, backwards, left and right, yield the forequarters and hindquarters, backing up, etc. before you ever attempt to saddle them up. Having holes in a horse's training is why most people have the problems they do with their horses. That is why I do what I do. I get the joy of watching horses learn and then seeing their owners learn with them. It is the BEST feeling in the world!

With over ten years of training and eighteen of riding experience, I specialise in colt starting and problem horses, but I'm also a skilled all-around rider open for tune-ups and exercise rides. I have personally done everything from pleasure, to barrel racing, to show jumping, to competitive trail/endurance, so whatever you have I can work with!

There is no exact science or method to training a horse. All horses are different. They all have different minds, bodies, and temperament.
