I use a combination of positive reinforcement & low pressure/release training modalities. I invite the horse to engage with our training sessions, allowing for choice. Your horse will feel heard as we work together. The result is a horse that is intrinsically motivated.

For a person to win, it's not necessary for the horse to lose. You should not have to take things away from a horse or break him into fragments in order to train him; rather you should add to the horse. The goal is "making" not "breaking."

I have been training horses for over 20 years. Common training requests:

Full board is included - each horse has a private stall which opens to a large grass pasture. They can come in & go outside as they please. High quality grass hay is provided 24/7 in their stall.

Over 30 years as a professional trainer, and A lifetime of experience of riding western. Mostly on trails, and in plenty of events. I will teach you skills to keep you safe in the saddle. You will learn what to do in an emergency situations BEFORE they ever happen. Many riding instructors in the New England area have never even ridden out side of the ring. Most teach only English and have a western saddle for those that may want to try western riding, but they are not really "western" I have ridden in the cactus covered foothills out West where I was born and raised by a horse trainer. (my mother) and in the heavily wooded rural trails in Upstate NY where I lived for many years. I have put the first rides on over 400 young horses and retrained well over a thousand problem horses. I ridden in many varied places with my own horses that I trained from babies. Places like The coliseum at the Eastern States Expo, Topsfield Fairgrounds, Forest Park Zoo, Belmont Race track. I team pen, do versatility events, mountain trail and compete in Cowboy Mounted Shooting. I've have participated at many events and venues, shooting a gun off the back of my horse. In parades and fairs all over New England. I can teach you to ride if you have never been on a horse. I can enhance your skills no matter what discipline you ride, expert or novice. Need confidence after a bad experience? I can help. We will progress at your speed, and at your level. Equine obstacle challenges, ranch riding, western equitation events.

I’m a professional farrier and trainer currently residing in Maple Plain MN. Before deciding to pursue Horseshoeing in my career I trained horses full time in Nebraska, Georgia, and Minnesota. I am currently much more limited on how many training horses or students I will take into my program but do have occasional openings for the right match.
I’ve worked and studied under three different trainers over the years. The first working with “problem” horses, rank horses, and horses that had been deemed dangerous for most people. I also worked for Jason English Show Horses as an assistant trainer, starting colts and preparing them to show as far as AQHA World, NSBA World, AQHA Congress, etc. in Western pleasure, Hunter under saddle, trail, Horsemanship, all around, and ranch pleasure. Multiple horses I trained went on to become AQHA world and Congress title winners. Working in Nebraska, I started colts full time for Arrow A Ranch, and raised and trained barrel horses, rope horses, and all around ranch horses. Multiple of which are currently competing at a pro level.
I offer honesty and professionalism. The care of and best interest of the horse are my number one priority in teaching both horse and rider.

I have been riding for over twenty years. I have had the privilege of riding many different disciplines as well as many different breeds of horses, ages, experience levels, and backgrounds. I took about ten years of Hunter/Jumper lessons and then began specializing in Western riding. I have also ridden some beginner Dressage. I have attended two different horse training and riding schools, learning both natural horsemanship and the classical horsemanship methods, as well as horse health and nutrition. I have also worked with many horses that have come from traumatic situations that needed to be rehabilitated. I use a combination of methods as well as my own past experiences to create the best possible outcome for both you and your horse.
