Ellis House provides a great environment for beginners and horse lovers of all experience levels to participate in riding lessons. Summer camps and birthday parties are offered as well. We have a volunteer program for those who enjoy spending even more time in the barn. We offer safe horses and great instruction. Scoggins Training Center is a full service facility offering its clients some of the best training in the state. STC is located less than an hour from Decatur, IL & Champaign, IL; an hour and a half from Springfield, IL; less than two hours from Peoria, IL; and two and a half hours from Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO and Indianapolis, IN. You cannot ask for a better located training facility in Illinois!
Brian Scoggins has been training horses for over 20 years. His accomplishments at the National & Regional levels all attest to his talent & ability as a horseman. The adult amateur & youth clients of STC are what make the training done by Brian really shine. They prove that not only are the horses trained to compete at the highest levels, but that their owners can enjoy them at their full potential, too.
At STC, Brian successfully takes horse as well as rider from their first steps to their National Dreams. What makes STC so unique is that Brian only accepts a limited number of horses and riders which allows him to spend the needed time for both horse and rider to mature at their needed time to reach their full potential. Your horse is evaluated honestly as to his abilities and potential. Whether your goals are a National Championship or just a solid trail horse, Brian can help you accomplish what you dream of.
STC attends most major shows in the United States each year, including US Nationals, Canadian Nationals, the Buckeye, the Iowa Gold Star Futurity, and two Regional Championships. The show team also attends numerous local shows in the area. The show schedule has expanded recently to include some NRHA shows for the reiners in the barn.
Brian Scoggins is also a National level carded Arabian judge. He travels around the continent to judge a varying number of Class A, Regional & National AHA shows. He also occasionally travels for clinics in the United States & Canada.
