Here at Hard Knox Horse Academy, we offer horse boarding, training, starting and conditioning of almost any discipline. We also have available, after school programs with lesson curriculum, as well as horse day camps, two day camps and summer horse camps. Personally I pride myself on having been taught top to bottom, from cleaning stalls and horse& barn safety to grooming, saddling and unsaddling to arena&rail etiquette when riding with others. I'm currently taking on NEW clients in the gold country area. I offer lessons, horsemanship under saddle and on the flat, training, starting, ground training, and handler/owner/rider horsemanship training clinics as well as exercising, and equine management. Prices range from $10-$40 depending on the service and I offer discounts or group lessons and boarding barns! I am a mobile trainer but am working on getting our insurance set up for our home farm to start taking on, on site clients as well!

My training program is very simular, I focus on the horse and owner/handler/rider as a team and while I am working with the horse often times 101 I ALWAYS include a short lesson at the end where the owner/handler/trainer is able to learn my meathods inabling a better relationship between them and the horse. All throught the training sessions I take the time to carefully explain why I'm doing what I am and how it's effecting the horse. Debbie Smith began horseback riding as an adult, and has been riding for over 17 years. She has enjoyed both dressage (to Second Level) and hunter/jumper (at local SAHJA shows as well as “A” shows) and has also spent time trail riding. Debbie offers lessons for beginning riders to show competitors and for all ages. We want our riders to be happy and confident on their horses, so we concentrate on teaching a balanced seat until the rider chooses his or her favorite discipline. Our program is devoted to creating safe, well-rounded riders with a solid foundation in English riding, trail riding, jumping, and dressage. California barrel racing to starting Gymkhana horses, Alyssa Moreland has a the ability to work with riders that have limited experience and problem horses.

Alyssa has grown up on the West Coast, working ranch horses and started showing western pleasure and English
horses and competing at local play days. She then went on to compete in barrel racing's at rodeos. Progressing to
barrel racing competitions at junior rodeos, queen competition events. Currently she competes at the 4D barrel
events, is training barrel futurity horses and re-schooling problem horses and working with youth qualifying horses.
Alyssa Moreland, has is well respected in the California State Horsemans Association, CSHA.

She has worked hard to learn to train and start horses from scratch and is now working with and training horse
competitors including children to help their dreams come true. Alyssa has many horse championships under her
belt including winning CSHA division 1 and division 2 and in the top 5 at CSHA California State Finals, and in the
top 3 at the California State Fair and Winning the 2007 Keep The Dream Alieve event . She has worked for top
reining horse trainers in California including Ted Butler of Ted Butler Performance Horses.

As a horse trainer Alyssa is always teaching the principles necessary not only to win, but also keeping riders

Contact me for English riding lessons or Western Riding lessons. I teach adults, children and youth riders. I really enjoy teaching young riders how to learn to ride. Many of the kids that I started now have children of their own, that I am teaching.

I offer a summer horse back riding camp. Students are divided by English and Western. They will learn basic grooming, horsemanship, riding balance, horse care. My lessons are fun, positive and learning based. I have been teaching for the past 20 years.

At the end of the program kids will get to attend an English or Western schooling show.

I have horses and ponies available that are seasoned show horses, and safe for young riders. I also provide the englsih or western tack and saddles. Using one of my lesson horses is a great way to get started without the cost of owning your own horse or pony. I also have horses including quarter horses and paint horses available for lease

In the picturesque countryside just south of Sacramento, California, at the end of a long driveway lined by overhanging trees you will find Hickerson Arabians. Todd Hickerson began his journey with Arabians when he was just five years old. He had a Purebred Arabian, Trinity Dawn, that he rode Endurance with. When he was just eight, they completed their first 50 mile ride and came in 2nd out of 80 riders. At twelve, they rode in the Tevis Cup. The Tevis Cup was started in 1955, it is the oldest modern day endurance ride that has been the inspiration and model for the most challenging endurance rides worldwide. Each rider who completes the 100 mile course from Tahoe to Auburn within the 24 hour limit and whose mount is judged fit to continue is awarded the coveted silver Completion Award Buckle. The Tevis Cup trophy is awarded to the person who completes the 100-Mile One-Day course in the shortest amount of time and whose horse is in sound condition and fit to continue. Todd was the youngest to complete the Tevis Cup, until just a few years ago!
