We have a lesson program suited for everyone! Private, semi private, and group lessons available. Children will enjoy learning the basics and playing games while they improve their skills. Children must be at least 8 years old to participate in our group lesson program. Adults can learn to ride or get a refresher in our beginning and advanced programs. All lessons include grooming and saddling the horses and safety instruction. Individuals can focus on trail riding, English or Western, equitation and more. We offer lessons in the arena and on the trail. We have 3 instructors and 8 lesson horses to meet your needs.

Kelly Williams provides specialized training and coaching for the endurance and competitive trail riding athlete. We believe that in order to have a successful endurance horse with a long, competitive career you must first have a well-balanced and responsive horse. An endurance horse does not just “go down the trail." All of our horses are cross trained with dressage basics and cavaletti/ground pole exercises to develop balance and willingness. Conditioning is done on a variety of terrain including sand, rocks, hills, dirt roads and single track trails. Horses in training are exposed to bicycles, hikers, ATVs, water crossings and road riding. All horses are taught correct trot outs and standing quietly for veterinarian examinations.
We also understand that an endurance horse is nothing without excellent nutrition and farrier care. At Knicker Knob Stable we pride ourselves on having fit, healthy horses that look like they could step foot into the show ring at any time. We are located in the heart of endurance country; just 10 minutes from the Tevis Cup finish line. Riders and horses of all experience levels are welcome, whether your goal is Limited Distance or 100 mile competition. Coaching is also available to trailer-ins and boarded horses on organized conditioning rides and mounted lessons in the arena. with horses spans nearly 40 years. She attended college and graduate schools on the East Coast while also spending nine years training with Olympic veteran and coach George H. Morris. Ryan Oropeza became a professional after obtaining his degrees from UC Davis where he received a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Biotechnology with an emphasis in Animal Science. While obtaining his dual degrees, he worked as a barn supervisor and mentor instructor for the UC Davis Equestrian Center.

In 2007, he took on his newest role as coach to the UC Davis equestrian team while fully maintaining his cliental. Ryan has worked with many respected A-circuit professionals in Northern California. His riding background represents an eclectic mix from all avenues of the horse world, from Hunters, Equitation, Show Jumping to Eventing, and Dressage.

His programs are catered specifically to the horse and rider`s abilities. Debbie Smith began horseback riding as an adult, and has been riding for over 17 years. She has enjoyed both dressage (to Second Level) and hunter/jumper (at local SAHJA shows as well as “A” shows) and has also spent time trail riding. Debbie offers lessons for beginning riders to show competitors and for all ages. We want our riders to be happy and confident on their horses, so we concentrate on teaching a balanced seat until the rider chooses his or her favorite discipline.
