Skyline Training Stables is a small lesson, training and boarding facility located about 1 mile off of Rt. 30 North, in quiet Hampstead, Maryland. We have our own lesson horses, or you can trailer your horse in. Negative Coggins required for all ship-ins. Amenities: We have both an indoor ring that is approximately 65 x 160, and an outdoor sand ring that is approximately 110 x 225. A finished tack room is available, wash stall with h/c water, and 10 x 10 matted stalls. 4 spacious grass fields with small herd turn out. The stalls are picked and cleaned daily and high quality hay and feed is fed, with each horse's diet custom designed with care. Water buckets are dumped and cleaned daily. Board includes feed, hay, stall cleaning, turn in/out, fly masks and blankets/sheets put on/changed as needed, determined by weather, not convenience. Leslie Deering has been training and teaching for over 30 years. She herself trained with an Olympic gold medalist. Leslie specializes in teaching classical principles while building security and confidence, especially while jumping. Leslie's students have become A pony clubbers and Advanced level three day event riders. In addition to events, the stable attends hunter/jumper and dressage shows. Training horses and riders for foxhunting is another of Leslie's strengths. She's hunted in MD, VA and Ky for over 20 years. Since having her own children she has also found a real joy in developing young riders and ponies and introducing beginners to the pleasure of safe riding across country. I specialize in finding your perfect seat for a comfortable and correct ride. My background is in hunt seat equitation on the flat and over fences, as well as training level dressage. I have been a rider most of my life, attended and graduated from Southern Seminary College in VA and rode on the intercollegiate open equestrian team under JT Tallon - courses included stable management, hunt seat equitation, equine biology. Currently, I personally ride only dressage but continue to teach hunt seat and training level dressage.
