We offer sales, boarding, leasing, training, instruction and career management to all ages and abilities. We also launched a breeding program in 2013. Blue Mountain Farm is a quiet, privately owned facility in Frederick, Maryland, less than five minutes away from Route 340. By joining our lesson program, you will learn all aspects of horseback riding from how to safely catch and lead a horse, to proper grooming techniques, to tacking up, riding, and the things you should do after your ride.

Our horses are calm and quiet mounts, great for the beginner rider and timid riders, but they are also very well-trained and can challenge more experienced riders as well.

Merkel Farm is nestled between Bowie State University and the Patuxent Wildlife Preserve in Bowie, MD and is within easy reach from the Washington D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore metro areas. Here's to helping the kids get out of the house making new memories, and giving the older students a new sport to have a go at, while offering a fun way to get fit! Feelgood Farm is now accepting new clients of all levels and goals. We are a show facility specializing in hunter/jumper training. We offer riding lessons to students ages 4 and up for our lesson program. We offer support, supervision, career management and a fun learning environment. Whether at our farm or at competitions locally or on the circuit, we aim to provide personalized attention to your goals and dreams.
  We strive to pass our experiences and other valuable information on to our students in a way that is both fun and challenging, while emphasizing safety and kindness to the horses.
Here you can learn the ins and outs of horses both on the ground and in the saddle!
We do not require formal riding attire but ask that the student wears long pants and closed-toe shoes with a short heel. We have riding helmets to lend to you initially to minimize your expenses while you are giving this exciting sport a try.

Qualified Instructor that will travel to you or you can ride at my facility using the school horses provided in the Poolesville/Montgomery County MD area. I specialize in finding your perfect seat for a comfortable and correct ride. My background is in hunt seat equitation on the flat and over fences, as well as training level dressage. I have been a rider most of my life, attended and graduated from Southern Seminary College in VA and rode on the intercollegiate open equestrian team under JT Tallon - courses included stable management, hunt seat equitation, equine biology. Currently, I personally ride only dressage but continue to teach hunt seat and training level dressage. I am 44 years old and have a lot of experience to help you feel comfortable with your horse on the ground and under tack. I believe in building a solid relationship with your horse and teaching horse care as well as horseback riding. I teach private lessons for $60 per hour and semi private lessons for $50 per hour. Camp Letts Equestrian Center is built on the belief that riders should excel in sportsmanship and horsemanship as well as riding. We believe that winning is the result of good riding, good horsemanship and faultless sportsmanship! All of our instructors are CHA certified instructors and our horses and riders compete at both the schooling and rated levels. Our Director has over 30 years of experience with Hunters, Equitation and Jumpers at all skill levels. Combining our belief and experience along with the YMCA allows all riders the chance to ride and compete at an affordable price. You don’t have to own a horse to be a great rider…you just need dedication! Kelly McCarley is the Director at Camp Letts Equestrian Center with Assistant Trainer Dawn Connell. Kelly and Dawn have over 30 years of experience in hunters/jumpers/equitation teaching, breaking and training, sales, showing at all levels (Local and Rated, judging and providing clinics. We offer group lessons with no more than 6 riders per group at a rate of $30 per hr and private 1/2 hr lessons at a rate of $35. We are a fully licensed and insured stable and offer a family atmosphere with a loyal client following even after they go to college!! We teach beginner through advanced, ages 5-Adult on safe, reliable and show quality horses. Our horses are used in all of our programs whether it be lessons, camps, horseshowing, clinics or anything else we do with each horse only working 2-3 hours in the morning and/or two hours per evening and all of them receive a minimum of 2 days off per week along with a two week vacation each year - oh yeah...it's great to belong to our herd!! My experience in the horse industry includes; extensive involvements in the APHA (all-around) show circuit, field and arena polo, colt starting, jackpot rodeo, reining, cow horse, jumping, and dressage. I spent one year at a college prep school (Wasatch Academy) in central Utah where I studied / and teacher assisted their newly developed Equine Science Courses. I have interned and trained under many influential people who have shown me a variety of styles, techniques, and training methods. Most are simply trying to locate the fine lines between making progress consistently and hitting a wall and staying there. It really boils down to impeccable timing and loads of patience. I try my hardest to incorporate all of my past experiences with other students as well as horses to best fit the present client. My main concern in both training and teaching is trying to steer clear of fitting a square peg into a round hole.
