The program which sets El Camino Ranch above and beyond other ranches is our finely tuned RIDING ACADEMY. We began giving lessons occasionally back in 1989. Since that time we have added a team of instructors, and a team of lesson horses, a curriculum of instruction, a schedule book full of lessons, birthday parties, Girl Scout activities, and other educational projects, along with many dedicated parents and individuals who make the weekly trek to El Camino. These are the back bone of this progressive program. We teach students, from age 5 years and up to tack up a horse, to mount a horse, to balance on the back of the horse, and to walk, trot, and canter/lope. As the student advances they may learn to ride a Saddle Seat horse, or to drive a pony in a cart. A few more advanced students learn to jump a horse over cross rails, and perhaps up to three feet. Anything we can do SAFELY, we will do. Our tiniest students, ages 3 and up, learn to groom a horse with our three Miniature Horses. Our lesson horses have all been professionally trained.  Several have been successful Show Horses, and most all are 8 years old or older, and have calm, quiet dispositions, so that they are safe for children or new adult riders.  They are Arabians, Half Arabians, and a few are other breeds.  They will all challenge you to excel to any level you wish to achieve.  These very special mares and geldings are the jewels of the ranch, and are loved by every student who has ever ridden in the Riding Academy Program, or observed these dedicated horses. Lessons on The Dressage Simulator allows you to have a 100% safe and perfect ride every lesson. You will improve your riding skills and seat without wearing out your horse much faster than on a real horse since you can concentrate on your self without having to think about the horse! The Simulator is interactive with a big screen and you can practice a life-like ride in the dressage arena or on the trail with the instructor next to you.

I specialize in ages 8 through adults. Those with experience or those just beginning. I am a fun, professional, down to earth, instructor who completely loves what she does! I teach everything from a safety standpoint in an atmosphere of encouragement. My lessons are geared toward your goals and include not just riding but, also horsemanship(grooming, saddling, parts of the horse, and lots more).

Your first lesson is an evaluation lesson where we go over what your reasons for wanting to learn to ride are and what you'd like to achieve. During this initial lesson, you'll learn how to safely work around the horse, grooming, tacking-up and of course, you'll ride! This first lesson takes about 90 minutes.
