Semi-retired from the horse business, I am available in a limited capacity for lessons for youth, young adults, and amateur adult riders. Please note, I won't start anyone younger than 7 years, and youth between the ages of 7 and 10 will be tested in an initial lesson/consultation to determine capability. Also note, riders must have their own horse that they feel comfortable upon.

I have a degree in horse ranch management and a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science with a concentration in Horse Science. I specifically studied horse training and am a former horse trainer who showed at the Intercollegiate level as well as Western Pleasure for AQHA. I'm no longer showing in the arena and if you're interested in showing, I would recommend another trainer who is still active within the industry.

These days, I'm more focused on providing basic horsemanship under saddle, and riders can be either of Western or English disciplines. In fact, incorporating English riding skills into an all-around horsemanship program is great for horse and rider so if you don't have a discipline that's ok too.

If you have a horse that needs tune ups, I am also available for this service. Not all horses are suited for show and not all riders seek competition, but every horse should be well mannered and every rider should feel comfortable and confident.... See More

We are a full service training stable specializing in Morgans and American Saddlebreds. We offer a summer camp program, birthday parties and a Girl Scout program. We offer lessons to people from age 4 to 84.

Horse and rider training focusing on horsemanship and effective communication on the ground and in the saddle. Offering beginner to advanced western riding lessons and specialize in barrel racing and gymkhana events.

Riding Academy
The program which sets El Camino Ranch above and beyond other ranches is our finely tuned RIDING ACADEMY. We began giving lessons occasionally back in 1989. Since that time we have added a team of instructors, and a team of lesson horses, a curriculum of instruction, a schedule book full of lessons, birthday parties, Girl Scout activities, and other educational projects, along with many dedicated parents and individuals who make the weekly trek to El Camino. These are the back bone of this progressive program. We teach students, from age 5 years and up to tack up a horse, to mount a horse, to balance on the back of the horse, and to walk, trot, and canter/lope. As the student advances they may learn to ride a Saddle Seat horse, or to drive a pony in a cart. A few more advanced students learn to jump a horse over cross rails, and perhaps up to three feet. Anything we can do SAFELY, we will do. Our tiniest students, ages 3 and up, learn to groom a horse with our three Miniature Horses. Our lesson horses have all been professionally trained.  Several have been successful Show Horses, and most all are 8 years old or older, and have calm, quiet dispositions, so that they are safe for children or new adult riders.  They are Arabians, Half Arabians, and a few are other breeds.  They will all challenge you to excel to any level you wish to achieve.  These very special mares and geldings are the jewels of the ranch, and are loved by every student who has ever ridden in the Riding Academy Program, or observed these dedicated horses. I have over 20 years of experience in hunters, jumpers and dressage, with all breeds of horses. I teach horsemanship from the ground up, giving novice riders confidence and advanced riders polish, instilling patience, persistence and responsibility.

I promote understanding between horse and rider. Lessons plans include beginning through advanced English and Western riding. I also teach trail riding and Polo. I offer beginning jumping and gymkhana. There is an emphasis on horse communication and my students can learn complete horse care. I work with Girl Scouts and can do riding lesson birthday parties. I have a unique instructional style. I usually ride in the lesson with my students so that I can show them exactly what I am teaching and I explain why it is done that way.
