Silver Spur Stables is one of the oldest barns in Glendale, California. Next to the Los Angeles Equestrian Center and adjacent to Griffith Park Trails, while it offers boarding and lessons, it is currently hiring for equestrian trainers for it's equestrian summer day camp for children. Day camp till operate through June-September, Mondays through Friday, between the hours of 8am-5pm. Silver Spur Stables is in the need of two riding instructors who will also act as day camp counselors for children ages 8-15 years. Debi began her riding career as a Junior rider in Orange County, California in the early 1970's. Her lifetime show experience is the basis for the services she provides. Her career spans over 40 years in the hunter/jumper industry. Over these 40 years, Debi has shown in hunters, jumpers, and equitation, and has shaped new riders into successful competitors in these divisions.

A consummate horsewoman, Debi has started many promising riders, including her two daughters, Gracie and Emma Marlowe. Gracie and Emma boast numerous championships in hunters, equitation, and medals. Like their mother, they are life-long devotees of the hunter/jumper industry.

To this day, Debi's passion is developing the equitation rider and nurturing the first time rider. Marlowe Show Stables offers individualized training programs for both horses and riders. Each program is tailored specifically to fit the individual needs of each horse and rider.

Semi-retired from the horse business, I am available in a limited capacity for lessons for youth, young adults, and amateur adult riders. Please note, I won't start anyone younger than 7 years, and youth between the ages of 7 and 10 will be tested in an initial lesson/consultation to determine capability. Also note, riders must have their own horse that they feel comfortable upon.

I have a degree in horse ranch management and a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science with a concentration in Horse Science. I specifically studied horse training and am a former horse trainer who showed at the Intercollegiate level as well as Western Pleasure for AQHA. I'm no longer showing in the arena and if you're interested in showing, I would recommend another trainer who is still active within the industry.

These days, I'm more focused on providing basic horsemanship under saddle, and riders can be either of Western or English disciplines. In fact, incorporating English riding skills into an all-around horsemanship program is great for horse and rider so if you don't have a discipline that's ok too.

If you have a horse that needs tune ups, I am also available for this service. Not all horses are suited for show and not all riders seek competition, but every horse should be well mannered and every rider should feel comfortable and confident.... See More
