I bring over 40 years of show, training and teaching experience. I specialize in helping the horse and rider connect and become one. I teach Western Pleasure, English, Hunter Jumping, and Trail.

Barrel racing/pole bending/ gymkhana clinic June 17 and 18 at the Historic Nelson Ranch just minutes from Davis and Sacramento. Focused on teaching the fundamentals of the sport to all levels of experience, to help improve your runs or teach you an entirely new discipline. Contact me for English riding lessons or Western Riding lessons. I teach adults, children and youth riders. I really enjoy teaching young riders how to learn to ride. Many of the kids that I started now have children of their own, that I am teaching.

I offer a summer horse back riding camp. Students are divided by English and Western. They will learn basic grooming, horsemanship, riding balance, horse care. My lessons are fun, positive and learning based. I have been teaching for the past 20 years.

At the end of the program kids will get to attend an English or Western schooling show.

I have horses and ponies available that are seasoned show horses, and safe for young riders. I also provide the englsih or western tack and saddles. Using one of my lesson horses is a great way to get started without the cost of owning your own horse or pony. I also have horses including quarter horses and paint horses available for lease

I offer partial leases, haul ins, private and group horseback riding lessons. Everything from a full service show barn participating in A and B level Horse shows to local English and Western schooling shows.

I also work with advanced riders specializing in trail, showmanship and western pleasure.

In the picturesque countryside just south of Sacramento, California, at the end of a long driveway lined by overhanging trees you will find Hickerson Arabians. Sitting on 8.5 acres of beautiful land, you will arrive and first see both young and retired horses in pasture where they spend their time playing and enjoying the breeze and shade. The show barn and indoor arena sit at the back of the property where the show horses have a view of the pond from their spacious 12×12 stalls. Todd Hickerson began his journey with Arabians when he was just five years old. He had a Purebred Arabian, Trinity Dawn, that he rode Endurance with. When he was just eight, they completed their first 50 mile ride and came in 2nd out of 80 riders. At twelve, they rode in the Tevis Cup. The Tevis Cup was started in 1955, it is the oldest modern day endurance ride that has been the inspiration and model for the most challenging endurance rides worldwide. Each rider who completes the 100 mile course from Tahoe to Auburn within the 24 hour limit and whose mount is judged fit to continue is awarded the coveted silver Completion Award Buckle. The Tevis Cup trophy is awarded to the person who completes the 100-Mile One-Day course in the shortest amount of time and whose horse is in sound condition and fit to continue. Todd was the youngest to complete the Tevis Cup, until just a few years ago!

Todd is a nationally recognized and respected Arabian and Half-Arabian horse trainer who has trained, shown, bred, bought, sold and marketed hundreds of Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. He has produced U.S. and Canadian National Champions, Reserve Champions and Top Tens. His knowledge, talent, integrity and work ethic are all reasons that he is highly respected in the horse community.
