Come join Sacramento Riding School's outstanding team of horses and riders, located just 20 minutes south of downtown Sacramento . Experienced or inexperienced riders, we have a program to suit your needs. Alicia Swinton, instructor/trainer of SRS specializes in traditional European english style riding, including 3-day eventing, dressage and jumpers. With over 20 years experience from some of California's top trainers, and extensive education in all aspects of the equine world. Let me share my passion and years of experience with you to help you accomplish your goals and dreams.

English style riding offered for all levels, beginner through advanced. For the Western rider, we offer lessons for levels; beginner through intermediate. Lessons are offered in two styles: group lessons, (composed of 2-4 riders and properly matched depending on skill level and age) . Or choose one of our famous one on one private lessons, available in 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour time blocks.

SRS has successfully trained many students and horses. From green horses to problem horses, I can accommodate any of your needs. Our horses are always trained with a natural horsemanship techniques that work with the horses mind and instincts to accomplish your goals and needs. Not with methods of abuse and force. School horses available AND travel to your horse and barn available as well. Our barn, which is conveniently located just 2 miles off the Hwy 99, and only 20 minutes from downtown Sacramento.

Cornerstone offers a private 'A' circuit hunter/jumper training program to riders wishing to reach their goals in the equitation, jumper, and pony rings. In addition to our private training programs, we also offer leases, a unique sales program, beginner riding lessons, and clinics.

Our riders compete everywhere from local 'A's to International competitions.

Our program has turned out the National Children's Medal Winner at WIHS, a USEF Talent Search East Finalist, a Jr/YR Silver Medalist, 3 Prix de'States competitors, and 5 Grand Prix riders under the age of 18.

Head Trainer and Owner, Crystal, is ARIA certified in Huntseat and Stable Management - one of only five in the state of California. She has advanced First Aid/CPR training and was trained by CalFire in Large Animal Rescue. She has a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies from Virginia Intermont College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Psychology from SFSU. While attending Intermont, she competed on the IHSA team and won National Finals both years. The IDA and ANRC teams saw great success, and she competed on the exclusive AIEC team. AIEC is the World University Equestrian Federation, bringing World Cup level show jumping and dressage competition to international student riders. California barrel racing to starting Gymkhana horses, Alyssa Moreland has a the ability to work with riders that have limited experience and problem horses.

Alyssa has grown up on the West Coast, working ranch horses and started showing western pleasure and English
horses and competing at local play days. She then went on to compete in barrel racing's at rodeos. Progressing to
barrel racing competitions at junior rodeos, queen competition events. Currently she competes at the 4D barrel
events, is training barrel futurity horses and re-schooling problem horses and working with youth qualifying horses.
Alyssa Moreland, has is well respected in the California State Horsemans Association, CSHA.

She has worked hard to learn to train and start horses from scratch and is now working with and training horse
competitors including children to help their dreams come true. Alyssa has many horse championships under her
belt including winning CSHA division 1 and division 2 and in the top 5 at CSHA California State Finals, and in the
top 3 at the California State Fair and Winning the 2007 Keep The Dream Alieve event . She has worked for top
reining horse trainers in California including Ted Butler of Ted Butler Performance Horses.

As a horse trainer Alyssa is always teaching the principles necessary not only to win, but also keeping riders
performing at their best. Alyssa has helped some of the CSHA Region 3 youth competitors to become champions.
She works with many breeds of horses and ponies including AQHA American Quarter Horses, APHA American
Paint Horses, Throughbreds, Appendix Horse, Pony Club of America horses and Wild Mustangs.
Alyssa enjoys working with horses. This includes sensitizing and training horses for extreme trail rides and
competitions.
Alyssa has horses and riders training and taking lessons from West Sacramento, Davis, Woodland, Capay, and

Our philosophy is "Learn to ride, before you decide" we teach you to ride a horse first before you decide on your specialty! Our recipe for successful horse education is simple: start with common sense, awareness, respect, consistency and humor. Slowly add some confidence, muscle, balance, and a sense of adventure. Often times you'll see students go 'round and 'round in an arena. We use all 8 acres of the property including the arena, learning through games, drill routines, trail obstacles and friendly competitions both bare back and saddled. In the picturesque countryside just south of Sacramento, California, at the end of a long driveway lined by overhanging trees you will find Hickerson Arabians. Sitting on 8.5 acres of beautiful land, you will arrive and first see both young and retired horses in pasture where they spend their time playing and enjoying the breeze and shade. The show barn and indoor arena sit at the back of the property where the show horses have a view of the pond from their spacious 12×12 stalls. With Todd’s home situated in the center of the property, the horses have the 24/7 care and attention they deserve.

Todd Hickerson began his journey with Arabians when he was just five years old. He had a Purebred Arabian, Trinity Dawn, that he rode Endurance with. When he was just eight, they completed their first 50 mile ride and came in 2nd out of 80 riders. At twelve, they rode in the Tevis Cup. The Tevis Cup was started in 1955, it is the oldest modern day endurance ride that has been the inspiration and model for the most challenging endurance rides worldwide. Each rider who completes the 100 mile course from Tahoe to Auburn within the 24 hour limit and whose mount is judged fit to continue is awarded the coveted silver Completion Award Buckle. The Tevis Cup trophy is awarded to the person who completes the 100-Mile One-Day course in the shortest amount of time and whose horse is in sound condition and fit to continue. Todd was the youngest to complete the Tevis Cup, until just a few years ago!

Todd is a nationally recognized and respected Arabian and Half-Arabian horse trainer who has trained, shown, bred, bought, sold and marketed hundreds of Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. He has produced U.S. and Canadian National Champions, Reserve Champions and Top Tens. His knowledge, talent, integrity and work ethic are all reasons that he is highly respected in the horse community.
