Country Meadow Farm, LLC has a dynamic team of instructors that are now accepting new students, beginner through advanced. We welcome all ages of riders 6 years old and up. We offer most disciplines with an emphasis based on groundwork to provide an understanding of the language of the horse. This will in turn translate to a balanced seat and correct use of the aids to achieve the optimum relationship with the horse that you desire. We value the horse as a partner in our goal setting, whether that be winning a national title or maximizing your enjoyment of trail riding. You can enjoy taking lessons on one of our program horses, or you can trailer your own horse to the farm for a more personal experience. We also are thrilled to travel to you for lessons or a clinic.
Shelby is a Certified Instructor, through the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA), in both the Western and Hunter seat riding disciplines, as well as jumping. She has also achieved her Equine Facility Manager Certification through CHA. As the Virginia Representative for CHA, she would be thrilled to help others get their certifications in one of the many areas that CHA offers. Shelby is also an American Quarter Horse Association Professional Horseman, providing training, lessons and boarding at Country Meadow Farm, LLC. She is available for clinics throughout the year.
With a high level of standards, Shelby has hand selected a team of instructors to help her with beginner and intermediate lessons. Each individual has passed a skills test and has student taught under Shelby's supervision. In addition, each instructor has either achieved their instructor certification through CHA or is actively pursuing it.
Shelby is available for judging, as a certified and carded open horse show judge. Also, she is trained through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning to offer a highly successful experience for a wide variety of individuals. She works hand in hand with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the equine to create a healing triad.
Country Meadow Farm, LLC also offers boarding, training, clinics, equine retirement, and other specialized services for horses recovering from medical treatment or abusive trauma.

We offer horseback riding lessons for all ages. We have adult only lessons as well as father/daughter and moms only lessons. We teach Saddle Seat riding. We do not jump!! We have classes with City of Salem parks and recreation as well as a summer camp with them. We offer camps for winter and spring break as well as 1 day camps on holidays such as memorial day and 4th of July. We do birthday parties and ladies nights which are so much fun. Beginner lessons offered with Kay and Monica focus on building a bond of love and trust between horse and rider through natural horsemanship methods taken from a variety of professional trainers and melded together into something that has been proven to work time and time again. They want you to feel confident in your riding.

One horse is available for lessons but it is preferred that you use your own horse if possible. $15 an hour.
Lessons will be given at the Catawba Equestrian Center, but they will travel to you if you have your own horse and would prefer not to move it.

Maya and Matty work together as a way to better your level of training, but when asked will work separately.

If you cannot afford the standard rates, feel free to call and discuss it. Both girls are willing to work for little to no charge after an extensive look into family backgrounds as to not be ripped off.

I teach classical, balanced hunt seat equitation - beginners through advanced and all ages using my show quality lesson master horses and poinies. We fox hunt with Bedford County Hunt, compete at hunter pace competitions, and local shows where my horses and students win by using the techniques of total horsemanship I stress at all times.
