Rustic View Farm is located in the scenic Baraboo Bluffs, in Merrimac,Wisconsin. We are home to about 30 Morgan horses as well as our beloved Labrador Retrievers and Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Rustic View Farm is owned by Dr. Dean and Wendy Meyer. Started in 1989 with the beginning of a breeding program that has since developed into what we believe to be Morgans with quality, substance, and style. Whether for the showring or for the family horse, we offer horses of all ages, all levels of training. If you are looking for a new show prospect, or a family horse, we welcome you to our farm! In 2011, we welcomed Jim Riggs, our new son-in-law officially into our family and are pleased to have him as our resident trainer, along with our daughter Nicole. Jim has been a horseman all of his life and brings to Rustic View Farm, his knowledge and expertise with starting young horses right. He is first and foremost a skilled farrier and operates his farrier service full time. Nicole has grown up in the show ring. She has shown at the National level and has been very successful in her endeavors. She now offers a complete lesson program from beginners thru advanced.

Riding Lessons:

We offer riding lessons for those interested in showing or for individuals who would like to learn to ride just for the fun of it, no matter what age.

Wisconsin winters can be long and cold and horseback riding is an excellent way to keep in shape during those long winter months! Ride in comfort in our newly remodeled heated indoor arena!!

Our Lesson Progrom

Every individual begins with a private lesson to evauluate their experience so they may be placed with the best possible horse. For a beginner, it will take several private lessons before they are ready to participate in a group lesson. Every individual progresses at a different rate. Very young riders will require more one-on-one attention and we recommend private riding lessons until the rider is comfortable being transitioned into a group session. This time frame varies for each individual.

Lesson Length

Lessons generally last approximately 30 minutes. However, that can be a long time for a young person to ride and some individuals do better with a shorter ride. Therefore, we will spend the remainder of time grooming the horse or learning about horses in general.

Lesson Attire

You must wear long pants and closed toe shoes to your lesson. Sandals or open-toed (or open-heeled) shoes are not appropriate. Shorts and capri pants are not acceptable.... See More

Lance Hayes Stables is a well-established saddle seat (English) barn, providing lessons for everyone from beginning riders to national champions. Private and semi-private lesson packages are available. Youth programs include the Maefield Equestrians Youth Club and summer riding camps. Adult camps also available. Spend a week growing your Natural horsemanship skills in a fun filled Christian camp setting! Spend part of each day learning about horse care and riding. Lessons, trail rides, obstacle courses, games and special events will fill your week and improve your horsemanship skills.
But more than riding skills, campers will learn horsemanship from Certified instructors while growing in faith and friendship with other horse campers. Cindy, our instructor/trainer/owner, started her 20+ year career showing on the WI/IL dressage circuit. She has shown as such prestigious facilities as Lamplight Equestrian Center and Thistledown Farm. Cindy has studied under many top dressage trainers in the country, including Dominique Barbier, Alex Koynot, Natalie Lamping, Fatima Nelson, and Bodo Hagen. Cindy is also a NARHA licensed therapeutic riding instructor. Therefore, in additon to having clients that simply enjoy riding, or have successfully shown at local shows, she has the experience, knowledge, and patience to work with riders having learning disabilities.
