At Harmony Ridge Equestrian Center, we are committed to providing riders of all levels and ages with an education that will inspire a life-long love of horses and equestrian sports.

We are proud to offer lessons through our Riding Academy. We set ourselves apart by offering

Our farm started as a local barn offering lessons for beginning riders. Today, we have grown to an operation that has retained our "family friendly" and boutique appeal while offering the finest quality lessons for all ages and levels, as well as a top-rated A circuit show team that competes up and down the West Coast. The NWNHC conducts lessons for students age eight and older who wish to learn how to build a respectful partnership with their horse and learn to ride with balance and lightness. In addition to a basic curriculum for children, we specialize in addressing the unique needs of the adult student who may be getting back into horses or fulfilling a life-long dream.

Using natural horsemanship and Centered Riding® techniques students build a positive relationship with the horse through leadership, not force and intimidation. Our instruction is a comprehensive program that starts on the ground and works its way into the saddle. It seeks to build a well-rounded horse person who not only understands the techniques, but the mind and spirit of the horse.

Yvonne Mathews has been involved in youth development and the use of horses as teachers for over 25 years in Washington State. She has coached many 4-H youth through their 4-H project as well as mentored aspiring instructors and trainers. Her students have been top ten riders as well as medal riders consistently.
Prior to coaching, Yvonne apprenticed under trainers with various breeds of horses. Most notably, Arabians at Scott Arabians, as well as Paso Finos, At Ranch Paso Bravo, in California. She also worked at Brown’s Canyon Equestrain center with Kathy Brown as a polo pony exerciser. She has a two year degree in Equine Science and Nutrition, from Pierce College, Ca. and continues her Equine knowledge periodically with judges training and volunteering as ring steward/scribe at local equine shows.
