HISTORY AND GOALS

Kathy’s equine knowledge is derived from a diverse background cultivated from working with an array of individuals.

Kathy started her riding career at the age of 7 on a Shetland pony and moved up to horses with her moms Quarter Horse. Her foundation started with 4-H and she was taught the many values, ethics, and guidelines that she carries with her today. She has successfully competed in 4-H, USEF Hunter/Jumper, AQHA, AHA, Pinto, USDF Dressage, and AWS.

At Phantom Ranch we teach ‘Rider Independence’. This means the student is taught all aspects of horse care, ground work and riding. Students are taught how to catch and groom their horse before the lesson, and how to untack and release their horse after the lesson. Students are challenged to experience different saddle disciplines as well as other styles - driving with our minis, vaulting on our draft horses and navigating our trail obstacle courses in-hand and mounted.

We offer trail rides, week long summer horse camps; Girl Scouts and other group education, horsemanship lessons and volunteer opportunities. We are a ETS host for clinics and competitions. Cindy, our instructor/trainer/owner, started her 20+ year career showing on the WI/IL dressage circuit. She has shown as such prestigious facilities as Lamplight Equestrian Center and Thistledown Farm. Cindy has studied under many top dressage trainers in the country, including Dominique Barbier, Alex Koynot, Natalie Lamping, Fatima Nelson, and Bodo Hagen. Cindy is also a NARHA licensed therapeutic riding instructor.
