Our farm started as a local barn offering lessons for beginning riders. Today, we have grown to an operation that has retained our "family friendly" and boutique appeal while offering the finest quality lessons for all ages and levels, as well as a top-rated A circuit show team that competes up and down the West Coast. Valerie de Marval has been riding since the age of seven and has been an instructor and trainer for over two decades. Valerie is a Certified Riding Instructor and Horsemanship Graduate of the Pacific Horse Center. Her early training included many years of intense work with Dennis Calin and Lissolette Fore. She has competed through Third Level; trained at Prix St. Georges; and shown both hunter/jumper and 3-day events. She even worked with race horses in France for several years as an amateur jockey!

Valerie offers group and private instruction for riders of all ages, levels, and abilities. Her primary focus is Dressage, but she also teaches Basic Horsemanship as well as low level Hunter/Jumper and English Pleasure classes. Lungeing of horse and rider can be arranged. Valerie has a small stable of school ponies and horses available for classes and leasing.

Personalized training and coaching for you and your horse is available. Valerie is happy to help you prepare for and compete in shows. She also can show your horse herself if you would prefer.

Valerie presently is available at Emerald Lane Stables in Bothell, WA and Silhouette Stables in Arlington, WA. Travel to your barn can be arranged.

The NWNHC conducts lessons for students age eight and older who wish to learn how to build a respectful partnership with their horse and learn to ride with balance and lightness. In addition to a basic curriculum for children, we specialize in addressing the unique needs of the adult student who may be getting back into horses or fulfilling a life-long dream.

Using natural horsemanship and Centered Riding® techniques students build a positive relationship with the horse through leadership, not force and intimidation. Our instruction is a comprehensive program that starts on the ground and works its way into the saddle.
