Horses and ponies have been an integral part of my life since childhood. Growing up on the west side of Michigan, I spent summers competing in both Western and English disciplines as well as teaching young children the basics of riding. I fell in love with Hunter and Jumpers as a young teen and began focusing on basic dressage and equitation. I continued to compete as a member of the Michigan State Equestrian Team while pursuing a degree in Communications at MSU.
After teaching my own daughters to ride at a young age, it seemed a natural progression to pick up where I had left off. I once again found myself teaching both children and adults the joys of riding, the responsibilities of horse care and guiding them to test themselves through the excitement of competition. Over the last 12 years I have enjoyed coaching students from local schooling shows to national competitions. I am a board member of the Michigan Hunter Jumper Association (MHJA) which enables me to network with trainers across the state as well as keep current regarding trends within the industry. Currently, I teach out of Haverhill Farms in White Lake. From here, we travel to MHJA horse shows locally and USEF shows around the zone. In Florida I trained horses for Highlife Farms and WB Equestrian. I work with green horses as well as difficult horses up to Grand Prix horses. Rushlow’s has four trainers on staff and two additional instructors. Combined we have over 150 years worth of equine experience out in the ring educating riders of all ages.

Our lessons are geared to match the level of the rider(s) adjusting and changing the approach we take to match the individual. We spend time educating our students on all aspects of the horse, from body parts to breed. Our programs cover everything from proper stall etiquette, tacking up a horse, leading the horse, mounting, dismounting, and last but not least, actually riding.

We have in excess of 12 lesson horses on staff at any given time. Our horses are ready and willing to help teach individuals of all ages about the art of riding. Most of our lesson horses are retired show horses that have had a wealth of experience in the show ring and are now enjoying a second career educating and entertaining others.

Lessons can be booked with as little as 24-hour notice, but it is recommended that you book your lesson at least one week in advance to ensure you have a spot in the class or the time you desire is available for a private lesson.
