Hylabrook Farm offers a unique program for each customer, whether your needs are weekly lessons on our friendly school horses or full time training and showing - or any combination thereof. Potential customers are always welcome to observe lessons and training rides and there is never such a thing as a silly question!
Each student has unique needs, and our goal is to come up with a program that best suits them, as well as setting the student up for success. Lessons are offered in both english and western disciplines and may be scheduled in half-hour blocks for younger students and those with green horses in need of short, focus and re-focus sessions. For those more committed or advanced students and horses, lessons usually run approximately an hour and may occasionally fall just under or over that time depending on the challenges and accomplishments of the day - we want everyone finishing on a good note with confidence.
Our goal is to create a solid foundation that both horse and rider can rely on as they climb the skill ladder - this means students may spend time on the lunge line learning body awareness, playing games and practicing specialized exercises to develop balance and dexterity, and even riding bareback or without stirrups to develop independence.
Lesson horses are available on a limited basis at this time. Availability is dependent on the rider's skill level and the horse's current schedule. We do our best to accomodate everyone while keeping the horses fresh and happy.
