Boarding at Bear Paw Barn means peace of mind for owners and expert care for your horse. Our small barn is conveniently located on a 30 acre facility just 5 minutes from Route 9 in Middletown, CT. With over 25 years professional equine management experience, we are Veterinarian recommended for our excellent care.
Bear Paw Barn is an adult lower level dressage training barn. Our no-pressure training environment allows riders and horses to progress at their own pace and comfort level. Our dressage training focuses on a foundation of groundwork and safe handling.
We are also the home of Sumner Brook Farm Inc. a small non-profit horse rescue. We rehabilitate, retrain and re-home horses in need.

The barn features a well lit 60x 90' Indoor arena with geo-textile footing and 4 large doors for cool breezes in summer. Our 80x 130' lighted outdoor has sand/rubber footing, hay fields to hack around, trails nearby, quiet atmosphere. By using our online arena calendar you can reserve your arena time and have your own private indoor!

24 hour individual turnout with sheds, large matted stalls with windows, pastures cleaned regularly. Our feeding program is excellent and can be tailored for your horse's needs.

Board includes:
- Daily turnout on grass or dirt paddocks (mostly grass) that is group or individual turnout.
- Quality hay 2-3 times a day. Individualized feed programs to meet horses needs. Supplements fed out daily.
-Use of arenas and riding areas. Plenty of room to store tack and blankets. Newly re-done Tack room.
-Use of Mini- fridge, microwave and coffee machine.
-Blanket and fly mask changing is included with board. As is a de-worming program.
-Daily cleaning of stalls and paddocks.

Barn Features:
Large 12'x12' - 12'x14' stalls. Every stall has a window and is well ventilated. 17 acres of grass turnout. Every paddock has shade available for the horses. Hillside Stable provides 30 matted box stalls, in one large facility, with two well lit high ceiling aisle ways. There is a tack room complete with saddle racks and lockable tack lockers. We have an office/lounge that features a couch, table and chairs, microwave and refrigerator to store food/drinks while you are at the barn. There is an outdoor wash stall, round pen, all day turnout in small groups, as well as grass turnout for grazing. Large lighted 175 ft by 80 ft Indoor arena, 275 ft by 125 ft outdoor arena. We offer trailer parking at no additional charge. The barn has an apartment upstairs in which one of the owners lives. Hillside stable offers 37 acres of property in which to ride on, and the property connects to miles and miles of trails. Friendly family atmosphere, we are open to riders of all ages and disciplines of riding. We offer full and rough board, as well as many other additional services. All of our board options can be customized to fit you or your horses individual needs. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Owner must clean stall daily, and provide their own bedding.

Owner is responsible for their own blanket changes.

Crossroad Farm Riding Academy offers private and group horseback riding lessons, jumpers training, showing, leases & sales, boarding, and private clinics.

About Boarding at Crossroad Farm Riding Academy:
Nine stalls, an indoor heated wash room, tack room and grooming area with cross-ties. During the summer months, a fan ventilation system provides cooling and comfort for the horses in the stalls.

Hay is provided three times a day, and grain is given in the morning and evenings. Waters are changed daily and monitored throughout the day.

Horses are turned out on a daily basis in individual paddocks, as well as in one large grass field.

The stalls are fully equipped with a surveillance system for complete around-the-clock care and monitoring of the horses’ well-being.

The farm is fully gated and owners are on-site to ensure the best possible care is provided to the horses.

Riders have access to a large outdoor ring fully equipped with jumps, as well as a grass field, also equipped with jumps. The GRTA trail system is seconds away, for those who want to enjoy a cool trail ride during the hot summer months, or a romp in the fresh snow during the winter.... See More
