This is Denise Kivi, a gal with a passion for horses. She shares the same passion as you. She is one of the most dedicated horse trainers on the Kenai Peninsula. Her entire life has been driven by the desire to be the best horsewoman she can be. She grew up in Oregon and was on the back of a horse before she could even walk. She was born horse crazy and it never faded. She took every opportunity she could to learn about horse training, and by the age of 15 was training horses in her County. Her pursuit for education led her to California where she became even more devoted to developing her skills as a horse trainer.
Denise is constantly finding ways to better share the methods of training in order to help others learn how to safely work with horses and advance others training skills. Over the past 20 years she has gained an incredible amount of knowledge and experience. If you’re new to horses and unsure where to begin, or a lifelong rider searching for a better way to work with your horse, Denise is here to give you the encouragement and drive to succeed. She can help you to develop the methods to excel with your horse.
Denise has a unique approach to teaching horse owners how to effectively communicate with their horses. She discusses goals, and gives you the answers to why the teaching steps to the handler/riders mistakes, horse problems, and troubleshooting advice. Denise uses a trained horse to demonstrate the goal. She will use an untrained horse to teach you so you can clearly see what steps need to be taken and how your horse is likely to react. Denise can help with foal training, to gain trust, control, respect and communication with your foal. It’s never too soon to start training your foal. Denise can also help you get your horse started under saddle.
She can teach you get your horse to have a feather light touch and softness on your horses’ mouth. Denise can teach you how to ride with one rein. She can teach your horse to be a pleasure to work with. She can teach you how to find the right tools for the right job starting your young and old horses.
Denise will teach your horse to give into pressure, and help you establish and maintain proper body position in the saddle, giving you the confidence to focus on your training. She can help in training both English and Western riders. She teaches you how to desensitize your horse to noise and movement, and will teach your horse respect and patience and how to correct bad habits. Denise can provide you with the tools and knowledge to make it happen.
Denise can also help you with training on the trail, teaching your horse to get rid of bad habits such as spooking, jigging, grass snatching, and help your horse remove fears such as water, logs, traffic and more. She can teach you strategies you will find very useful to you and your horse and make your horse a pleasure to ride.
Denise can teach groundwork, round pen work, transitions, backing, rollbacks and more to help build a safe and confident rider, from groundwork to basic riding exercises.
Denise will answer all questions most new horse owners often have but may hesitate to ask.
