Skyline Training Stables is a small lesson, training and boarding facility located about 1 mile off of Rt. 30 North, in quiet Hampstead, Maryland. We have our own lesson horses, or you can trailer your horse in. Lessons: Private 1 Hour: $50.00 (Our horse) Private 1 Hour: $50.00 (Trailer in) Private 1 Hour: $45.00 (Student Boarder) Semi-Private and Group Lesson rates available on request. Negative Coggins required for all ship-ins. Amenities: We have both an indoor ring that is approximately 65 x 160, and an outdoor sand ring that is approximately 110 x 225. A finished tack room is available, wash stall with h/c water, and 10 x 10 matted stalls. 4 spacious grass fields with small herd turn out. The stalls are picked and cleaned daily and high quality hay and feed is fed, with each horse's diet custom designed with care. Water buckets are dumped and cleaned daily. Board includes feed, hay, stall cleaning, turn in/out, fly masks and blankets/sheets put on/changed as needed, determined by weather, not convenience. Scheduled vet, farrier, and dental appointments are also included in the board. Payment for vet, farrier, dental, hauling and *horse shows is due at time of service. Quiet Landing is the place to find quality riding instruction that teaches students to be educated, effective, show-quality riders. We specialize in hunt seat riding for the equitation or hunter ring, but we pride ourselves on teaching students sound riding principles that benefit riders who pursue other riding disciplines, including eventing, fox hunting and dressage.

If you're a beginner interested in learning to ride, our pleasant horses and safe environment are a great place to start.

For the advanced rider, we have well-schooled, highly capable horses for those looking to take their riding to the next level. And, we offer lessons on your own horse either at our facility or yours*.

Drressage

Forest View Farms (FVF) offers riding lessons for ages 6 - adult in a fun, safe, relaxed atmosphere on loving, dependable, and talented lesson horses and ponies. With a program focused on teaching students from "the ground up" each individual will learn how to handle and work around horses including basic grooming, tacking and horse management skills, and plenty of quality time spent in the saddle. Kerri Broch, the head instructor, is certified through the ARIA and offers both english and western lessons to beginner through advanced students with a friendly, and welcoming attitude. FVF also employs other patient and attentive instructors who focus on beginner/new rider lessons for all ages. FVF offers high quality lessons at reasonable rates with new-student discount available. FVF features a large, lighted indoor arena as well as an outdoor arena and on-site trails. Lessons are taught year-round at the farm and are available in group, semi-private, or private settings. Leslie Deering has been training and teaching for over 30 years. She herself trained with an Olympic gold medalist. Leslie specializes in teaching classical principles while building security and confidence, especially while jumping. Leslie's students have become A pony clubbers and Advanced level three day event riders. In addition to events, the stable attends hunter/jumper and dressage shows. Training horses and riders for foxhunting is another of Leslie's strengths. She's hunted in MD, VA and Ky for over 20 years. Since having her own children she has also found a real joy in developing young riders and ponies and introducing beginners to the pleasure of safe riding across country. "The mission of LeCheval Stable is to educate the community about therapeutic horseback riding, provide counseling and equine-facilitated support services for the purposes of recreation, exercise, sport and rehabilitative therapy in an inclusive setting.”
LeCheval Stable, a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization, provides an opportunity for individuals and families to explore the equestrian experience. Riders ages 5 to adult learn basic standards necessary for safe riding. Lessons are geared to the strengths and needs of the rider after an initial evaluation. Horsemanship, skill progression and equitation are taught using the guidelines of the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and Maryland 4H Horsemanship Program. Beginning and intermediate riders work towards independence to build equestrian knowledge to support the ongoing process of skill progression. Riders learn to use the natural aids of voice, seat, hands and legs to influence and communicate with their horse.

Therapeutic riding instruction is provided by certified instructors through Professional Association Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International. Hippotherapy and consultation with occupational, physical or speech language therapists is available. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) scheduled by appointment.
