Sherri is a high honors graduate of Kent State University with Bachelor of Science degree in teaching. She currently runs one of the largest horse 4-H clubs in the county. She has a passion for instruction. Her love for horses and the children that ride them is evident in her training. She offers comprehensive instruction both on and off the horse to prepare her students both children and adults for the show ring if desired. She teaches both typically developing and special needs students. At Sunset Stables we give instruction in huntseat, western, showmanship, trail (class and riding) offer lessons for the most nervous of beginner to more advanced riders who want to show on the circuit. We can get you to your very first show or for more experience riders offer the polish it takes for the winner circle. We enjoy showing but we put our focus on safe proper technique to make sure the rider and horse gets the most from the experience. We offer lessons from ages 4 and up. We have fun but safe riding lessons. I have been a full time riding instructor for 9 years, I certainly love what I do. I typically start at the age of 5 but I have had some students start as early as 4 years old. Right now my oldest student is 50 so as you can see I have a wide range of ages. I do use my personal horses, I have at times traveled to other barns if need be. My rates are 4-5 year olds are a half an hour private lesson for $15, 6 years old and up is an hour private lessons for $25, group rate for the hour lesson is $5 off each participant. Located in Vermilion, OH. I am a University of Findlay graduate holding 2 Bachelors Degrees in Equine Business Management and Western Equestrian Studies offering riding lessons, training, show coaching and 4H help in the areas of Lorain, Huron and Erie counties of Ohio. Instruction is available for all ages of riders, with a focus on building a solid horsemanship foundation in both beginners and advanced riders. My students and clients compete in hunter under saddle, western pleasure, showmanship, horsemanship and equitation. We primarily show on the Quarter Horse show circuits, as well as local open shows. A teacher first and foremost, Kerry Varble combines a lifetime of experience in multiple disciplines including eventing, hunter/jumpers, mountain trail, and endurance, with a professional approach to the education of horses and riders. She holds a masters degree in education from Walsh University and a graduate certificate in the teaching of learners with mild/moderate disabilities from Baldwin Wallace University.

As a riding instructor, Kerry is able to transition her teaching skills to help students gain the knowledge, confidence and expertise to accomplish their riding objectives while enjoying the learning experience.

In addition to assisting students achieve their riding goals, Kerry has trained horses of all breeds for jumping, dressage, and mountain trail. She specializes in working with off track thoroughbreds, and she has worked with CANTER Ohio doing first rides off the track and training rides to help transition horses to new careers.

In 2021 Kerry was champion of the open training division of the NEOMTA mini trials series with her mare, Happy Eloise, that she purchased as a three year old at the 2017 Mountaineer racetrack auction. She currently trains with ICP4* certified instructor Dr. Susan Hines, and has worked with Jackie Smith of Stone Gate Farm, learning all aspects of running horse trials and shows.
