Brigadoon Farm offers a carefully developed western riding program for teaching horsemanship skills to all ages and levels of riders. Each lesson is individualized and focused on safety, positive reinforcement, and fun. ”In addition, Brigadoon Farm hosts the South Texas branch of the International Performance Horse Development Association (IPHDA). As such, people taking lessons have an opportunity to compete internationally via the internet. The organization includes horse shows which are video taped, uploaded to youtube and entered to be judged by highly qualified horse professionals. The tack room contains a dehumidifier, air conditioner, refrigerator, microwave and wifi so observers can be comfortable as they watch friends who might be riding outside in inclement weather. An indoor rest room with a shower provides a place where those who come directly from work to ride can change their clothes

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE INTERNSHIPS & COLLEGE CREDIT: Interns have come from many different states including California, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York. International interns have come from countries such as Australia, South Africa, the Czech Republic, Scotland, Germany, and Poland.

Not all interns are college students, but interns from schools such as Purdue, the University of Maryland, and Northeastern Junior College in Colorado have received college credit from their respective schools. Brigadoon Farm offers Horsemanship at Alvin Community College. PHED 1145 is a college credit course providing basic information on riding, handling, training, and caring for horses.

Riding lessons and horse training available in the Alvin area. Riding lessons (western and english) for beginner and up. Lesson horses available for people who do not own a horse. Lessons are private so you get all the attention. Group lessons are also available. Lessons focus on you becoming a better rider while keeping safety #1. Barrel racing/ pole bending lessons also available for students who own their own speed event horse. Speed event lessons focus on control, balance, and of course-getting that better time and performance out of your horse.

Horse training includes-babies(ground work, halter breaking, basics), green horses, barrel(performance) horses, trailer loading issues, respect/discipline problems, and legging up (getting in shape).

When the rider and the horse both need some help, I offer my half and half lesson. I work the horse for the first half of the lesson followed by instruction for the owner/rider with the horse. This is great for many people because the horse gets worked with and they are learning how to train too.

Pet sitting in Alvin area is also available. I have experience with a variety of animals (horses, livestock, dogs, exotic). This means you can go on that vacation and not worry about your critters!
