Iron Horse Stables is a unique, family-owned farm located in Sussex/ Germantown area. We offer reasonably priced, personalized lessons from beginner through advanced levels. We specialize in basic English riding, dressage, Hunter/Jumper and polo. Our instructors are highly qualified with 70+ years of experience combined! Jenny comes from a diverse background that gives her a unique approach to training young horses and instructing riders. From William Woods University Jenny earned a degree in Elementary Education and Equestrian Science. She understands how to teach and believes in meeting students (Horse or human) at their ability level and build their confidence step by step to achieve new goals. As an Army National Guard Infantry Medic, she possesses the self-discipline and medical knowledge to provide structure and safety. Working with young sale horses is a passion of Jenny’s and her experience as Realtor (Jenny Hewitt Realty with Keller Williams in Madison Wi) gives her an edge when it comes to marketing sale horses.

Jenny began her career in the western disciplines – specifically halter and showmanship, developed a passion for jumping, loving the graceful hunter and adrenaline of the jumper ring. Rustic View Farm is located in the scenic Baraboo Bluffs, in Merrimac,Wisconsin. We are home to about 30 Morgan horses as well as our beloved Labrador Retrievers and Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Rustic View Farm is owned by Dr. Dean and Wendy Meyer. Started in 1989 with the beginning of a breeding program that has since developed into what we believe to be Morgans with quality, substance, and style. Whether for the showring or for the family horse, we offer horses of all ages, all levels of training. If you are looking for a new show prospect, or a family horse, we welcome you to our farm! In 2011, we welcomed Jim Riggs, our new son-in-law officially into our family and are pleased to have him as our resident trainer, along with our daughter Nicole. Jim has been a horseman all of his life and brings to Rustic View Farm, his knowledge and expertise with starting young horses right. He is first and foremost a skilled farrier and operates his farrier service full time. Nicole has grown up in the show ring. She has shown at the National level and has been very successful in her endeavors. She now offers a complete lesson program from beginners thru advanced.

Riding Lessons:

We offer riding lessons for those interested in showing or for individuals who would like to learn to ride just for the fun of it, no matter what age.

Wisconsin winters can be long and cold and horseback riding is an excellent way to keep in shape during those long winter months! Ride in comfort in our newly remodeled heated indoor arena!!

Our Lesson Progrom

Every individual begins with a private lesson to evauluate their experience so they may be placed with the best possible horse. For a beginner, it will take several private lessons before they are ready to participate in a group lesson. Every individual progresses at a different rate. Very young riders will require more one-on-one attention and we recommend private riding lessons until the rider is comfortable being transitioned into a group session. This time frame varies for each individual.

Lesson Length

Lessons generally last approximately 30 minutes. However, that can be a long time for a young person to ride and some individuals do better with a shorter ride. Therefore, we will spend the remainder of time grooming the horse or learning about horses in general.

Lesson Attire

You must wear long pants and closed toe shoes to your lesson. Sandals or open-toed (or open-heeled) shoes are not appropriate. Shorts and capri pants are not acceptable.... See More

HISTORY AND GOALS

Kathy’s equine knowledge is derived from a diverse background cultivated from working with an array of individuals.

Kathy started her riding career at the age of 7 on a Shetland pony and moved up to horses with her moms Quarter Horse. Her foundation started with 4-H and she was taught the many values, ethics, and guidelines that she carries with her today. She has successfully competed in 4-H, USEF Hunter/Jumper, AQHA, AHA, Pinto, USDF Dressage, and AWS.

Curtis Stables is located in the beautiful rolling countryside west of Madison. The facility is on 40 acres with an indoor arena, outdoor arena, two 60' round pens, 15 acres for group turnout with water and shade, and 6 areas for private turnout. All fences are board or woven wire and in good repair. Shelters are available in all turnout areas. The barn has 11 box stalls and one double stall. It's built into the hill so it's warm in winter and cool in summer. The indoor has summer screens so birds are never an issue.

Instructor with over 35 years of experience: Sharon Curtis, M.S., L.P.C is a certified instructor emphasizing Balance Seat Riding which is transferable to all seats riding. Balanced seat riding teaches people to ride any horse, anywhere SAFELY. Students ages range from 4yrs.-80yrs. Group lessons contain 4 or less students with similar skills and abilities. Private lessons are also available. Very beginners through Advanced Jumpers. Coaching provided at all levels and shows.

Rolling Oaks Farm, home of Angela's Equine Solutions (AES), is offering riding lessons! Whether you’re younger, older, starting, intermediate, working, retired, or just "getting back into it," these lessons are perfect for you! Angela offers lessons on great horses that have great experience in every situation. Concentrating on the communication with horses, taking pleasure in riding, standard safety around equines, practiced ground manners, and overall riding skills, this lesson program is perfect for any rider! Lessons are designed to fit the individual, with more concentrated riding instructions for teens and adults, while still staying fun for young ones that can easily lose focus. Rolling Oaks Farm also offers 30 acres of riding opportunities including indoor, outdoor, and its own personal trails. Rolling Oaks is a wonderful place to take lessons with an instructor who always keeps the rider and horse her utmost priority.
Angela graduated from University of Wisconsin River Falls with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science Equine Management. She has been riding for many years, learning from a variety of instructors, which has culminated into her unique and rewarding teaching style. She is eager to learn as much as she can and looks forward to “working with horses and humans.” She began with barrel racing her Appaloosa mare, and then progressed into natural horsemanship. Schooling followed where she gained knowledge in reining allowing her to participate in the colleges “Colts in Training” program for three semesters. Upon graduation she traveled to audit many different colt starting programs including Lee Smith, an unparalleled horsewoman who was a predecessor to one of the founders of horsemanship, Ray Hunt.
Angela is now participating in Dressage and Jumping lessons to allow a better understanding of the English disciplines. Not only does AES offer beginning riding lessons but Angela also “starts” colts and offers Equine Sports Massage Therapy for any horse with muscular tension.

Jack and Paula Curtis have a combined experience of 32 years; training horses and instructing their owners, in a variety of disciplines. Together they have competed nationally in Jumping, Dressage, and Western events. They teach clinics throughout the state, and as far away as Florida, give demonstrations at horse fairs, and instruct anyone interested in achieving a higher level of horsemanship.

Having studied with some of the finest trainers and clinicians the horse industry has to offer, Jack and Paula bring a wealth of knowledge to their teaching program. Their ability to articulate their thoughts and ideas has an enormous impact on the success of their students and horses.
~The Stable~
The stable of JPC offers indoor and outdoor full-service boarding with the amenities of a large facility and the individualized care of a small family stable. New large indoor arena, spacious clean rubber matted stalls, and miles of trails meandering through the 62 acre farm. Horses live in a quiet, relaxed and closely watched environment. Feeding and turnout programs are customized to each horse. Owners live on premise, and are involved with the day to day operations of the facility.
Located in Grafton, WI, minutes north of Milwaukee and just 1 1/2 miles off of I-43. It is 62 scenic acres of rolling fields, woods, creek, and pasture.

Lessons on your own horses: Trailer your own horse in for a private lesson to brush up on your horsemanship skills, solve a problem, prepare for a show, learn a new skill etc... We can take you and your horse to the next level in whatever discipline you ride.

Lessons on our horses: We have a variety of lesson horses available; dressage, hunters, jumpers, reining, and barrel racing horses. Let us know what your goals and ambitions are and we can find the right match for you.

Semi-private clinics: These clinics are geared towards those of you who would like an in depth horsemanship experience. Spend the day with Jack and Paula as they give you hands on instruction. Watch them work with various horses and experiment with various techniques on your own horse or one of the lesson horses.
