HISTORY AND GOALS

Kathy’s equine knowledge is derived from a diverse background cultivated from working with an array of individuals.

Kathy started her riding career at the age of 7 on a Shetland pony and moved up to horses with her moms Quarter Horse. Her foundation started with 4-H and she was taught the many values, ethics, and guidelines that she carries with her today. She has successfully competed in 4-H, USEF Hunter/Jumper, AQHA, AHA, Pinto, USDF Dressage, and AWS.

WWF offers a new and unique option for competing at any level:

Curtis Stables is located in the beautiful rolling countryside west of Madison. The facility is on 40 acres with an indoor arena, outdoor arena, two 60' round pens, 15 acres for group turnout with water and shade, and 6 areas for private turnout. All fences are board or woven wire and in good repair. Shelters are available in all turnout areas. The barn has 11 box stalls and one double stall. It's built into the hill so it's warm in winter and cool in summer. The indoor has summer screens so birds are never an issue.

Instructor with over 35 years of experience: Sharon Curtis, M.S., L.P.C is a certified instructor emphasizing Balance Seat Riding which is transferable to all seats riding. Balanced seat riding teaches people to ride any horse, anywhere SAFELY. Students ages range from 4yrs.-80yrs. Group lessons contain 4 or less students with similar skills and abilities. Private lessons are also available. Very beginners through Advanced Jumpers. Coaching provided at all levels and shows.

Whether you’re younger, older, starting, intermediate, working, retired, or just "getting back into it," these lessons are perfect for you! Angela offers lessons on great horses that have great experience in every situation. Concentrating on the communication with horses, taking pleasure in riding, standard safety around equines, practiced ground manners, and overall riding skills, this lesson program is perfect for any rider! Lessons are designed to fit the individual, with more concentrated riding instructions for teens and adults, while still staying fun for young ones that can easily lose focus. Rolling Oaks Farm also offers 30 acres of riding opportunities including indoor, outdoor, and its own personal trails. Rolling Oaks is a wonderful place to take lessons with an instructor who always keeps the rider and horse her utmost priority.
Angela graduated from University of Wisconsin River Falls with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science Equine Management. She has been riding for many years, learning from a variety of instructors, which has culminated into her unique and rewarding teaching style. She is eager to learn as much as she can and looks forward to “working with horses and humans.” She began with barrel racing her Appaloosa mare, and then progressed into natural horsemanship. Schooling followed where she gained knowledge in reining allowing her to participate in the colleges “Colts in Training” program for three semesters. Upon graduation she traveled to audit many different colt starting programs including Lee Smith, an unparalleled horsewoman who was a predecessor to one of the founders of horsemanship, Ray Hunt.
Angela is now participating in Dressage and Jumping lessons to allow a better understanding of the English disciplines. Not only does AES offer beginning riding lessons but Angela also “starts” colts and offers Equine Sports Massage Therapy for any horse with muscular tension.

Jack and Paula Curtis have a combined experience of 32 years; training horses and instructing their owners, in a variety of disciplines. Together they have competed nationally in Jumping, Dressage, and Western events. They teach clinics throughout the state, and as far away as Florida, give demonstrations at horse fairs, and instruct anyone interested in achieving a higher level of horsemanship.

Having studied with some of the finest trainers and clinicians the horse industry has to offer, Jack and Paula bring a wealth of knowledge to their teaching program. Their ability to articulate their thoughts and ideas has an enormous impact on the success of their students and horses.
~The Stable~
The stable of JPC offers indoor and outdoor full-service boarding with the amenities of a large facility and the individualized care of a small family stable. New large indoor arena, spacious clean rubber matted stalls, and miles of trails meandering through the 62 acre farm. Horses live in a quiet, relaxed and closely watched environment. Feeding and turnout programs are customized to each horse. Owners live on premise, and are involved with the day to day operations of the facility.
Located in Grafton, WI, minutes north of Milwaukee and just 1 1/2 miles off of I-43. It is 62 scenic acres of rolling fields, woods, creek, and pasture.

Learning Opportunities with Jack and Paula include:

Lessons on your own horses: Trailer your own horse in for a private lesson to brush up on your horsemanship skills, solve a problem, prepare for a show, learn a new skill etc... We can take you and your horse to the next level in whatever discipline you ride.

Lessons on our horses: We have a variety of lesson horses available; dressage, hunters, jumpers, reining, and barrel racing horses. Let us know what your goals and ambitions are and we can find the right match for you.

Semi-private clinics: These clinics are geared towards those of you who would like an in depth horsemanship experience. Spend the day with Jack and Paula as they give you hands on instruction. At First Class Horse Complex lessons emphasize the importance of horse psychology and applied horsemanship to improve the rider. Our horse lessons in Bristol, WI are available for both adult and young riders.

Lessons are customized to match your individual needs. Lesson programs maintain a special emphasis on horsemanship and safety. Our 60 min horseback riding lessons are designed to develop independent equestrian riders. We encourage all of our riders to learn the complete care of the horse. We feel that understanding the horse on the ground enhances the relationship between horse and rider. All of our students are encouraged to set goals for themselves whether it be to be able to enjoy a trial ride or to compete. Our 30 minute private lessons are tailored to accommodate your schedule, specific needs and focuses.

Our equine workshops are designed for the first time horse enthusiast as well as the experienced horse owner. First Class Horse Complex workshops can range from lecture based presentations to interactive sessions with horses. Workshops are an informational step up from a lesson but not as concentrated as a clinic.

Our workshops are an explanation of horses and riders on a microscopic level. Each Workshop will thoroughly examine best practices of the horse industry in a two hour program. Each Workshop will focus on one equine subject. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers during the Workshop. Workshops will motivate attendees to be better horsemen and women.
