I have had the best training from all over the world since I was 4. I love being able to share the great training I've had with others. I am very big on the fundamentals of riding (flat work, flat work, flat work) I enjoy teaching students the importance of flat work, then watching my students develop their technique while improving their horse in every aspect. I am best training intermediate riders (of any age) up to the advanced (Grand Prix/Professional) level. I excelled showing/training in the hunters & Eq. as well as the jumpers. I started competing in at the Grand Prix level when I was 16 (right before Young Riders) In 2006 I represented the US in Europe on the Global Champions Tour. I would really love to help any rider that simply just loves to ride/show to a rider that is striving to be a professional one day soon.
I can also help with any horse training from breaking young horses to a top level show horse.

At Shea Rose Farm, faithfully serving the Marvin/Waxhaw area for 30 years, we strive to provide a comprehensive equestrian program to develop confidence, competence, and compassion in our students. Our lessons include ring and trail riding, jumping, dressage, driving, drill team, vaulting (gymnastics on horses- our competitive vaulting team is NC first team, started 25 years ago), ground work, and games. Lisa Abernathy will provide quality instruction for beginner through advanced riders in English and Western, or on Gaited Horses.

All Lessons last approximately 1 hour. Private Lessons are $45 and Group Lessons are $35. Cash or Check is accepted. The first lesson is always private so that I can evaluate the riders skill and select an appropriate horse. Once the rider demonstrates proper balance, posture, and riding aides at the walk and trot they may move to a group lesson if available.

Abernathy Farm's lessons are geared toward preparing you for horse ownership. We will teach you how to safely catch, groom, and tack up your horse, in addition to the fundamentals of riding. Abernathy Farm offers adult and youth lessons for ages age 5 and up. Private or Group lessons can also be scheduled. Group lessons consist of 2 to 4 riders. This is perfect for friends, siblings, or parents and children who want to learn how to ride together.
