Regardless of whether you choose to ride in an english, western, or endurance saddle, the instruction given at Urban Acres will teach centered riding that will enhance your ability to ride and communicate with your horse. I am an FEI dressage trainer and instructor who offer lessons on your horse or a lesson horse if you don’t have your own horse yet. I concentrate on correct and soft riding, creating a supple horse from engaging the hind end and carrying itself on the forehand. Working on teaching the rider how to correctly achieve this suppleness through the correct use of seat and aids to help the horse. Deirdre Dressage offers two highly qualified instructors for you to choose from. We offer lessons for very beginners learning basic horsemanship to FEI dressage. We have wonderful school horses to fit everyone's level. We also offer two FEI schoolmasters to learn the upper level movements on.

Our trainers also accept horses into training. We accept young horses to high level competition horses for promotions and sales. We are proud that we are able to offer training for every type of horse and bring each horse's natural talents out.

I offer riding lessons, training, summer camps, and mobile horse care such as exercising, training, lessons, grooming, batheing, etc.

I am well versed in several disciplines, as well as equine management. With an extensive background in the hunter/jumper circuit, certified veterinary technician, experience in everything from show jumping to reining, and a current education in dressage, I am able to offer a broad spectrum of knowledge.

My training system is strongly grounded in the principles of the German Training Scale. Starting with rhythm, relaxation, connection, straightness, impulsion, and collection - the purpose being to develop to the fullest the horse's mental and physical aptitude, and willingness to perform.

I follow the Conrad Schumacher methodology of training: "Enhancing the rider's physical and mental awareness to create maximum harmony with the horse is the cornerstone of the training philosophy. The focus on mental fitness and rider awareness are developed through the basic foundation of the scales of training, the prerequisites for optimum performance, and the selection of working patterns to achieve correct execution of movements throughout the levels."
