Lisa is a life-long horsewoman who started out as a hunter/jumper rider before discovering dressage in college. She also enjoys cross-country riding and trail riding. Lisa has experience with training green horses, rehabilitating “problem” horses, and studies equine/rider biomechanics and the importance of body awareness and responsiveness. She has worked with trainers in several parts of the country and loves to learn about different theories and philosophies of horsemanship. Holdford Horse Farms provides riding instruction for ages 6 through adult. Our goal for each student is to have fun, build confidence, and progress steadily and safely. Students learn to ride in all of the basic gaits: walk, trot or jog, and canter or lope. These skills are then refined to include an understanding of proper balance, collection, extension, and true communication with the horse. As students progress, they are encouraged to learn more about specific disciplines including Hunter Jumper, Dressage, Various Western Classes, and Trail Riding. Ruby Reithel is an FEI dressage rider offering horseback riding lessons to the Oxford, MS area. With her string of confidence-building lesson horses, her program is designed to build the correct basics and confidence in all riders, ages 5+.
