At Quarry Ridge Stables, we help you gain real-world skills and build relationships to become a confident, independent rider. We are proud to provide lessons for riders of all ages and experience levels in a fun, safe environment. Lesson instructor Elizabeth McDonald is a certified instructor with 10 years of experience teaching riding lessons across the country, with a special focus on introducing youth and beginner riders to independent riding in the ring and on the trails.

Private, Semi-private, and Group (up to 6 riders) lessons are available, with discounts for lesson packages of 5 or more. Dressage & Jumping for children and adults. Trailer-in or ride one of our 13 wonderful academy horses suitable for every abilty level. Amy von Scholz, owner and Head Trainer is an active local Dressage judge and USDF L/distinction. She has been riding for over 30 years and has worked with some of the best trainers, including olympians as well as many grand prix riders in dressage, jumpers, combined training, equitation, hunters and graduated from Centenary College, one of the top equine schools, with a BA. She is comfortable teaching all levels and has the patience to deal with children and beginners plus the eye to help the more advanced riders. We have reasoable prices and a positive approach. Cori Nichols specializes in training both horses and riders for all aspects of balanced seat riding: dressage, stadium jumping and cross country jumping. With great enthusiasm, she teaches both children and adults how to communicate effectively, efficiently and tactfully with their mounts. Learn on your own horse, on one of the farm's quiet and capable school horses/ponies. Her home base is Norwegian Wood Farm, a 148 acre 'playground' for horse lovers, featuring a covered riding ring, numerous hacking fields,outdoor sand ring as well as the only cross country course in the Rondout Valley district. Come school over the professionally designed bank complex, water jump or other numeorous cross country obstacles for many ability levels.
