We pride ourselves on our hands on approach that focuses on horse and stable management as well as hunt seat equitation in the riding ring. Pine Crest Farm has private and group lessons available for the budding equestrian, adult looking to get back into riding, or the advanced student who wants to sharpen their skills for the show ring!

Our lesson program offers private or group lessons at reasonable rates with sibling and referral discounts! We individualize each lesson and try to keep the group at 4 or smaller to give each rider the most attention. Pine Crest Farm also offers horse showing opportunities to all students who take lessons. Swift Creek School of Equitation has been in practice since 1978, offering a convenient location with a great facility and accredited staff which includes, Jessie Clise Lohr (owner/trainer), Molly Alaimo and Ashley Smoral. Our riding program is designed for beginner riders up through advanced levels, ages 5 and up. The main goals are horsemanship, exercise and fun for all ages and abilities. Our riders continue to succeed at mini shows, local shows and USEF national shows. We are also the organizers of The Central Virginia Show Jumping Association. At Mahalo Farm in Earlysville, VA, we provide riding and carriage driving lessons for children and adults. Hunter-jumper, western, dressage and combined driving disciplines are offered as well as basic horsemanship skills for recreational riders who just want to trail ride or have fun. Our approach to riding is based on a strong foundation of natural horsemanship methods, Alexander Technique and Pilates, balanced seat, minimal aids, consideration of the horse and fun and safety for the rider. Private and semi-private lessons are offered as well as longer 1/2 day and full day lesson programs or trail rides during weekends, holidays and vacations. We also go to several local shows each year, attend several hunter paces and even go fox hunting several times a year.
For experienced riders, we offer partial leases of our well-trained and well-behaved horses. It's almost like owning a horse without all the extra expenses. It's a great way to enjoy horses, see the Virginia countryside from horseback and know that someone else is caring for the horses when you aren't around.
We also offer field boarding to a limited number of horses. All pastures have run-in sheds, fresh water and shade. Organic principles are followed throughout the farm including feeding organically/transitionally grown hay during the winter.
Need your horse or pony trained to drive or want a better shoulder-in on your horse, we can help you. We accept a very limited number of horses for training.

Couderay Springs Farm offers horseback riding lessons for all ages and all levels of riders. We specialize in well rounded English lessons that are safe, fun, and educational. Our goal is to teach the rider to become a partner with their horse and fully understand him at all levels.
