Experienced or inexperienced riders, we have a program to suit your needs. Alicia Swinton, instructor/trainer of SRS specializes in traditional European english style riding, including 3-day eventing, dressage and jumpers. With over 20 years experience from some of California's top trainers, and extensive education in all aspects of the equine world. Let me share my passion and years of experience with you to help you accomplish your goals and dreams.

English style riding offered for all levels, beginner through advanced. For the Western rider, we offer lessons for levels; beginner through intermediate. Lessons are offered in two styles: group lessons, (composed of 2-4 riders and properly matched depending on skill level and age) . Or choose one of our famous one on one private lessons, available in 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour time blocks.

SRS has successfully trained many students and horses. From green horses to problem horses, I can accommodate any of your needs. Our horses are always trained with a natural horsemanship techniques that work with the horses mind and instincts to accomplish your goals and needs. Not with methods of abuse and force. School horses available AND travel to your horse and barn available as well. Our barn, which is conveniently located just 2 miles off the Hwy 99, and only 20 minutes from downtown Sacramento.

Gateway Farm is primarily a Dressage and Eventing barn although we welcome all riding disciplines at our facility. Our facility includes a main barn with oversized box stalls and box stalls with paddocks, a mare and foaling barn with video monitoring, small and large individual pastures, and open group pastures with shelters.  We have separate pastures for weanling foals, yearlings, mares and geldings, and retirees.  We maintain a large outdoor arena with sand footing and a complete set of jumps, a covered arena with combination Nike/sand footing, lights, and mirrors, a dressage arena, a large round pen, and a cross-country course with a gallop track.  Private, semi-private and group lessons on your own horse or one of our well trained lesson horses are offered, and we are also affiliated with the Liberty Oaks Pony Club.  There is easy access to trails.... Ryan Oropeza became a professional after obtaining his degrees from UC Davis where he received a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Biotechnology with an emphasis in Animal Science. While obtaining his dual degrees, he worked as a barn supervisor and mentor instructor for the UC Davis Equestrian Center.

In 2007, he took on his newest role as coach to the UC Davis equestrian team while fully maintaining his cliental. Ryan has worked with many respected A-circuit professionals in Northern California. His riding background represents an eclectic mix from all avenues of the horse world, from Hunters, Equitation, Show Jumping to Eventing, and Dressage.

His programs are catered specifically to the horse and rider`s abilities. We are a multi discipline barn dedicated to education and giving riders a safe opportunity to learn and improve skills. All ages are welcome and we work with all levels from beginners to riders who want to compete. We keep about 30 lesson horses so you can learn to ride on a horse that is appropriate for you. Debbie Smith began horseback riding as an adult, and has been riding for over 17 years. She has enjoyed both dressage (to Second Level) and hunter/jumper (at local SAHJA shows as well as “A” shows) and has also spent time trail riding. Debbie offers lessons for beginning riders to show competitors and for all ages. We want our riders to be happy and confident on their horses, so we concentrate on teaching a balanced seat until the rider chooses his or her favorite discipline. Our program is devoted to creating safe, well-rounded riders with a solid foundation in English riding, trail riding, jumping, and dressage. Good horsemanship is a must, and lessons are customized to each student's interests and abilities. California barrel racing to starting Gymkhana horses, Alyssa Moreland has a the ability to work with riders that have limited experience and problem horses.

Alyssa has grown up on the West Coast, working ranch horses and started showing western pleasure and English
horses and competing at local play days. She then went on to compete in barrel racing's at rodeos. Progressing to
barrel racing competitions at junior rodeos, queen competition events. Currently she competes at the 4D barrel
events, is training barrel futurity horses and re-schooling problem horses and working with youth qualifying horses.
Alyssa Moreland, has is well respected in the California State Horsemans Association, CSHA.

She has worked hard to learn to train and start horses from scratch and is now working with and training horse
competitors including children to help their dreams come true. Alyssa has many horse championships under her
belt including winning CSHA division 1 and division 2 and in the top 5 at CSHA California State Finals, and in the
top 3 at the California State Fair and Winning the 2007 Keep The Dream Alieve event . She has worked for top
reining horse trainers in California including Ted Butler of Ted Butler Performance Horses.

As a horse trainer Alyssa is always teaching the principles necessary not only to win, but also keeping riders
performing at their best. Alyssa has helped some of the CSHA Region 3 youth competitors to become champions.
She works with many breeds of horses and ponies including AQHA American Quarter Horses, APHA American
Paint Horses, Throughbreds, Appendix Horse, Pony Club of America horses and Wild Mustangs.
Alyssa enjoys working with horses. This includes sensitizing and training horses for extreme trail rides and
competitions.
