We are a Campground with 54 W/E sites, Riding Stable with 20 horses on site and also offer Girls Horse Camps both, overnight and day camps. We're located 13 miles east of Plover on Hwy 54 and open 7 days a week during summer months.

New Leaf Farm has a year round riding lesson program! We specialize in beginner/intermediate riders looking to learn basic riding and horse handling skills in the disciplines of Dressage, jumping, and western using natural horsemanship principles. We accept students ages 5 and older. We offer discounts for packages to fit almost any budget. We teach Sunday-Thursday with occasional lessons on Fridays as well. We've recently added horse camps this summer as well as birthday parties coming soon!

We have several excellent lesson horses/ponies for you to use if you do not have your own.

Chelsea-24 year old bay solid Paint mare-our steady Eddie walk/trot super quiet and safe sweet girl! If you are fearful, this girl will build your confidence. She is super smooth and super patient. Her favorite speed is SLOW!

Lacey: 13 year old black and white Baskir Curly/Paint mare-Our spunky, sassy girl. A steady and fun ride, this girl will keep you on your toes at the walk, trot, and canter. She can do a little of everything including jumping, Dressage, western, trail, and groundwork.

Sherman: 19 year old Halflinger gelding-Our short giant teddy bear, not super tall, but built to carry adults as well as children. He'd rather stand than work but once he's moving he's fun to ride.

Georgie: 16 year old bay QH/Solid Paint mare-Our sensitive girl. Like to please and do the right thing. Not a slow ride, but super obedient. One of our taller horses at 15.2hands.

Harry: 15 year old white Shetland Pony gelding-Harry can be spunky and challenging or slow and sleepy, depending on who is riding him. He takes care of the littles and gives the more experienced rider a challenge. Harry can be ridden western or English. Harry is also a great jumper!

Twizler: 15 year old pony gelding-one of the student's favorites, this is not your typical sassy pony. He is a super steady obedient guy with lots of love and sweetness! Twizler can carry riders at walk, trot, and canter and can jump or be ridden western as well.

Rutherford: 14 year old pony gelding-spunky and fun, safe and sweet. Rutherford is Mr. personality with sweet steadiness mixed with a bit of sass. He is used for western and English riding lessons.

Private lessons $3/30 min., $50/45 min., or $60/60 min. We include balancing exercises, ground skills, drill team, follow the leader, ground poles, games, and other tools for a complete learning experience! Come experience the benefits of learning to safely handle/ride these wonderful creatures. Riding lessons also teach patience, persistence, tolerance, fitness, strength, flexibility, coordination, determination, self control, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Cindy, our instructor/trainer/owner, started her 20+ year career showing on the WI/IL dressage circuit. She has shown as such prestigious facilities as Lamplight Equestrian Center and Thistledown Farm. Cindy has studied under many top dressage trainers in the country, including Dominique Barbier, Alex Koynot, Natalie Lamping, Fatima Nelson, and Bodo Hagen. Cindy is also a NARHA licensed therapeutic riding instructor. About Us

Rustic View Farm is located in the scenic Baraboo Bluffs, in Merrimac,Wisconsin. We are home to about 30 Morgan horses as well as our beloved Labrador Retrievers and Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Rustic View Farm is owned by Dr. Dean and Wendy Meyer. Started in 1989 with the beginning of a breeding program that has since developed into what we believe to be Morgans with quality, substance, and style. Whether for the showring or for the family horse, we offer horses of all ages, all levels of training. If you are looking for a new show prospect, or a family horse, we welcome you to our farm! In 2011, we welcomed Jim Riggs, our new son-in-law officially into our family and are pleased to have him as our resident trainer, along with our daughter Nicole. Jim has been a horseman all of his life and brings to Rustic View Farm, his knowledge and expertise with starting young horses right. He is first and foremost a skilled farrier and operates his farrier service full time. Nicole has grown up in the show ring. She has shown at the National level and has been very successful in her endeavors. She now offers a complete lesson program from beginners thru advanced.

Riding Lessons:

We offer riding lessons for those interested in showing or for individuals who would like to learn to ride just for the fun of it, no matter what age.

Wisconsin winters can be long and cold and horseback riding is an excellent way to keep in shape during those long winter months! Ride in comfort in our newly remodeled heated indoor arena!!

Our Lesson Progrom

Every individual begins with a private lesson to evauluate their experience so they may be placed with the best possible horse. For a beginner, it will take several private lessons before they are ready to participate in a group lesson. Every individual progresses at a different rate. Very young riders will require more one-on-one attention and we recommend private riding lessons until the rider is comfortable being transitioned into a group session. This time frame varies for each individual.

Lesson Length

Lessons generally last approximately 30 minutes. However, that can be a long time for a young person to ride and some individuals do better with a shorter ride. Therefore, we will spend the remainder of time grooming the horse or learning about horses in general.

Lesson Attire

You must wear long pants and closed toe shoes to your lesson. Sandals or open-toed (or open-heeled) shoes are not appropriate. Shorts and capri pants are not acceptable.... See More

We are not only a CUSTOM SADDLE SHOP but we are giving lessons to kids and young adults. We start at the beginning and teach the very basics on how to handle a horse on the ground and earn their trust which in turn earns you respect from your horse.
We can use your horse or ours. We can give 1 or 2 hour lessons which are $30.00 for 1 hour and $55.00 for a 2 hour lesson.
All riders and spectators ride at their own risk and will be required to sign a release form.
If you bring your own horse and the horse needs work as well the there may be added costs.
