Our philosophy for the past 45 years is to install self-esteem, responsibility and sportsmanship in a positive and fun, family oriented enviroment. Over the years we have prided ourselves in specializing in Juvenile and Adult Amateur riders and helping them attain there horsemanship goals. For our adult beginners, or those coming from another riding style, we encourage each individual to achieve their personal best. Lesson Program For Riders Of All Ages!
Our lesson program is designed for riders at all levels who may or may not own there own horse or pony. We give individual instruction with safety being the upmost importance. Our riders are taught the basics of both a correct riding seat and respect for the horse or pony, learning many ground skills that help a good rider. Our young adult and adult riders are in the program for a variety of reasons. Some want to gain additional riding or driving experience in the show horse discipline, some want to begin a love affair of riding not attained in their younger years, some have started after their children are older, and some are riding to gain personal and physical strength. Eickert Eventing provides full or partial training for horses and riders focusing on dressage and jumping in Snohomish County. Eickert Eventing offers high quality training and riding lessons year-round for youth and adults of all skill levels. The Advanced level trainer, Natascha Eickert, always approaches each horse and rider as an individual, meeting them where they are and helping them to reach their goals at their own pace. Natascha has 20 years of eventing experience, has been working with top level horses since 2005, and providing riding lessons for 10 years. Natascha has several students who have competed and ribbon placed at local eventing shows. Yvonne Mathews has been involved in youth development and the use of horses as teachers for over 25 years in Washington State. She has coached many 4-H youth through their 4-H project as well as mentored aspiring instructors and trainers. Her students have been top ten riders as well as medal riders consistently.
Prior to coaching, Yvonne apprenticed under trainers with various breeds of horses. Most notably, Arabians at Scott Arabians, as well as Paso Finos, At Ranch Paso Bravo, in California. She also worked at Brown’s Canyon Equestrain center with Kathy Brown as a polo pony exerciser. She has a two year degree in Equine Science and Nutrition, from Pierce College, Ca. and continues her Equine knowledge periodically with judges training and volunteering as ring steward/scribe at local equine shows.

Kim Lacy is an FEI dressage trainer at Hidden Falls Farm in Arlington WA. Kim has trained several horses through the FEI levels and received her USDF gold, silver,and bronze medals. Her and her students have been very successful locally, regionally, and nationally.

Our lessons revolve around three things: safety, fun, and progress.

To stay safe, we use a lot of natural horsemanship principles to help us interact with horses in ways that make sense to them. Understanding that horses are prey animals and social pack animals can help us consider why they react to certain things, and what types of situations make them uncomfortable. This awareness helps us work with them safely and allows us to teach horses new things. Whether you want to go trail riding or hit the show ring, your horse needs to be able to accept new situations calmly and confidently.

The main part of our philosophy is that horses are fun! Just hanging out around the barn with horses and friends is half of the fun. We use a lot of games and activities in our lessons so you and the horse get to think and have fun while learning to ride. And being part of the horse crazy group out at the shows or on the trail is the best part of any day.

We have a clear, progressive curriculum to help you learn about horses. Our learning includes horse care and maintenance, proper tack, safety and horsemanship, balanced riding, and good communication with the horse on the ground and under saddle. We think that having clear goals in mind helps us focus on what we are doing and what we have accomplished. I had the great fortune of growing up in a thriving and inspirational pony club family My mother and mentor, Betty Tukey, taught me everything there is to know about horses and teaching. She furthered my learning by sending me to work with instructors like: Melissa Beardsley, Tami Masters, Kari McClain, Bruce Davidson, Kim and Dietrich Von Hopffgarten.

From these great teachers, I learned to be an effective rider with great horsemanship skills. I want to share the wisdom that I gained from these instructors through my teaching.

Pony club has always played a major role in my life and I grew up competing in rallies and Eventing, Through these experiences I learned about being a competitor, teamwork, responsibility, horsemanship and leadership. I graduated from pony club with my 'B' which establish my strong base of knowledge. Now I have the fortune to give back and play a leadership role in pony club. I am the Regional Instructional Coordinator for the NW region and the DC of the local pony club chapter - Skagit Valley. I hope to pass on the values and learnings that I grew up with in pony club and give this to my students. .

Education has been the basis of which I stand. With my BA in Psychology and my Masters in Education I apply these classroom management skills to my arena lessons. After grad school, I traveled the world raising my kids for 12 years. I was able to further my riding experiences with lessons in France, England,Germany and Russia.

I have been diversified my talents in riding from: pony club, eventing, dressage, working with the Riding for the Disabled in England, to running a small riding lesson and vaulting program from my home .

Now I have come home, at have been working with Stephanie Blockley Clarke at Meadowgate for the past 4 years. Stephanie has taught me how to ride with more finesse and with more compassion. With her teaching I have taken my Dutch Warmblood - Aslan - up to 3rd level in dressage.

My road to being a riding instructor has not taken the normal path, by I have taken the many elements of my life to become a strong teacher. I combine all these elements (dressage, jumping and pony club) in my teaching to provide a very well rounded lesson program.... See More
