Better than lessons - you and your kids will appreciate a trail ride over boring arena circles any day! Riders will learn basic handling skills in a far more beautiful environment. Try a guided horseback ride along trails that wind through our lush forests. Great for riders of all ages and skill levels (kids to adults; beginner to advanced). This is a small privately owned ranch. All trail rides are guided at a "walk only" by an experienced and knowledgeable trail guide who leads riders in small groups of 1-4 riders. We specialize in confidence building. We ride rain or shine; we use comfy waterproof lap blankets to keep our riders warm and dry in poor weather conditions. We have a huge variety of ride types, from one half hour to all day rides, we'll even plan an overnight camping trip. Get more than just a trail ride, as we sponsor seasonal treat rides (egg hunt ride, trick n treat ride, candy cane ride, patriotic ride, and sweetheart ride) and riding in prize/raffle/poker rides sponsored by others. Hunter's Run Equestrian Center has been training hunters/jumpers and equitation for over 25 years.

Our riders compete in lead line, hunters, jumpers, and equitation at local, national and international "A" shows.

Colleen has owned and been the head trainer at Hunter's Run for 25 years. She brings many years of experience to horse care, client satisfaction as well as a life-long love of horses, people and horse shows.
She has also found time to give back in industry positions such as president and board member many times for the Washington State Hunter-Jumper Association, North American Young Riders Coordinator, Zone IX Chairman, and she is currently on the Zone IX Board for USHJA.

Career highlight: Being awarded the National Bergen-Brunswick Corporation's "Trainer of the Year."

Meghann has been riding and showing since she was four years old. She successfully competed in the ponies, children's, juniors, adult, amateur owners and grand prix. After receiving a criminal justice degree from Seattle University, Meghann chose to become a professional for Hunter's Run.

Career highlights include: 3 top ten placings in the USEF WEst Coast Finals, top 10 in the National equitation Finals at the Capitol Challenge under Karen Healy. She also swept the N.W. Zone IX finals as an adult winning the Adult Eq Finals, Adult Hunter Finals, Johnny Johnson MEdal Finals and the Ariat Finals. She recently won the Zone IX 1st Year Green Finals on DaVinci in 2009. She brings extensive experience to our riders.

Angie has been riding with Hunter's Run since she was 11 years old. Her expertise is starting green and/or young horses, preparing them for shows, and offering a comfortable 1st show experience. Angie has consistently won many championships at shows in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and California as well as many year end and zone awards.
She is excellent with new riders, helping them gain confidence and is a strong coach for intermediate and advanced students. Angie has also been a board member several times for the Washington State Hunter & Jumper Association.

PTR would like to welcome our new trainer and coach, Alexa Belen!

Alexa will be teaching Tuesday's, Wednesday's, Thursday's and Sunday's and training as well. We are so excited to add her to our family! I've been looking for a mini me and I found her. Please let me know if you would like to take some lessons under her guidance.

Alexa started riding at age 6 right here at Pony Tail Ranch. She showed on our AQHA team for many years at the national level and was top 10 in the nation in 2005. This little gal is a very accomplished horsewoman and will be sharing her expertise with our students.

Alexa graduated from Washington State university in 2013 with a Bachelor of science in psychology and a Bachelors of Arts in criminal justice. She volunteered at PATH, Palouse Area Therapeutic Horsemanship program which fueled her two passions, horses and helping people. She is interested in starting a rehabilitation therapy program. Alexa would like to continue her education by working toward her masters degree focusing on Horse Therapy in correlation with criminal rehabilitation as well as victims of physical and mental trauma.

Rusty Bar Ranch has been approved and is now endorsed by Time to Ride, a division of the American Horse Council. There was rigorous criteria which had to be met, including being licensed, insured, having a proper facility, completing Safe Sport training, a criminal background check, and membership in at least one training association such as the Certified Horsemanship Association.

Rusty Bar Ranch features the only training simulator in Washington state. Sheena has seat, bit, leg, head and neck sensors and is non-judgmental. She will show you everything you are doing correctly as well as areas needing improvement. She goes English and Western, never tires, and can be ridden when temperatures exceed what is considered safe for lessons as she lives in a climate controlled room.

Lessons are taught from the ground up. Students learn how to halter, lead, groom, tack and ride. All lessons start out as private lessons, meaning the rider, horse and instructor are the ONLY ones in the arena or training area. Rusty Bar Ranch is a multi-discipline training facility, teaching English, Western, agility, trail, obstacles, safe and sane gaming, safe horsemanship, in preparation for everything from competition to trail riding.
