Primarily an eventing group we teach the classic principles of jumping and dressage. We involve ourselves yearly in hunter paces, trail rides, beach rides, drag fox hunting, dressage, eventing, and endurance. Our niche is boarding student horses and leasing out school horses for students to learn on, show, or just enjoy. Year-Round Lesson Program at Camp Kern!

Just when you thought Camp Kern was just for summer camp and school groups! Circle K Ranch, located at Camp Kern, has a fun, safe, educational, and progressive lesson program that is offered all year long. Our instructors are patient and knowledgeable and will help students of all ages achieve their horseback riding and horsemanship goals.

Lessons are offered in English, Western, Dressage, and Jumping, with a strong emphasis on good horsemanship, horse care, and sportsmanship. Students spend most of their lesson time on horseback, but will also participate in ground lessons on topics such as; grooming, tacking, leading, lunging, horse first aid, horse terms, barn management, and more!

With more then 50 horses and many different instructors there you can come to learn anything you want! We are a fit for students of all dispositions and experience level!

Schedule & Rates

Scheduling is flexible and lessons are offered most weekday evenings as well as Sunday afternoons. Lesson times last for 1 hour, and students should plan to arrive to lessons 15 minutes early to start grooming and tacking their horses. Students should allow about 10 minutes after the lesson to un-tack, groom, and turn their horse out.

Semi-Private (2 students) : $30/ lesson

I have been training horses & riders for 35 years. I feel there must be a "team" atmosphere, between horse and rider. From beginner riders to pleasure riding and including show riders. All aspects are equally important regarding horse care.

One of the most important things to me as an instructor, besides keeping it safe for rider & horse, is to be able to help build a bond between two very unlikely "creatures".
Only when the horse trusts the rider and the rider is not afraid of the horse can a true partnership begin. Through its basic principles dressage can help with this goal of a true partnership. Whether you are striving to compete at shows, go trail riding, jump or just want to improve your riding, dressage training will help you to communicate better, ride smoother and overall enjoy each other more.

We are full care boarding, training and lesson facility. We specialize in American Saddlebred and Morgan horses. Lessons are taught on our American Saddlebred and Morgan horses and accept any level of riding students.

USEF Developing Program and Grand Prix rider Jennifer Truett teaches Advanced Dressage and Musical Freestyle Development. She is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist/Silver and Bronze Freestyle Bars/"L" Program Graduate "with distinction" and USDF Certified Trainer through Second Level. At her Dancing Horse Farm, she has trainers and apprentice trailers capable of teaching all levels of riding, from complete beginners to FEI levels.
