At Sunset Stables we give instruction in huntseat, western, showmanship, trail (class and riding) offer lessons for the most nervous of beginner to more advanced riders who want to show on the circuit. We can get you to your very first show or for more experience riders offer the polish it takes for the winner circle. Jamie Gunyula has been teaching for nearly 15 years and has taken many riders from their first few rides in the lesson program to winning ribbons at the shows on their own horses. She had the amazing opportunity to work as an assistant to advanced rider and successful horseman, Jeffrey Taylor, for 8 years. Those years of hard work and invaluable experience from Jeffrey sharpened her teaching, riding, and training skills. During that time Jamie competed through the Intermediate level, including a CIC 2*, and brought many young horses along through the levels successfully.

Jamie welcomes riders of all levels and has several wonderful school horses available. She is also happy to travel to you on your own horse and offers coaching at the horse shows whenever available.

A teacher first and foremost, Kerry Varble combines a lifetime of experience in multiple disciplines including eventing, hunter/jumpers, mountain trail, and endurance, with a professional approach to the education of horses and riders. She holds a masters degree in education from Walsh University and a graduate certificate in the teaching of learners with mild/moderate disabilities from Baldwin Wallace University.

As a riding instructor, Kerry is able to transition her teaching skills to help students gain the knowledge, confidence and expertise to accomplish their riding objectives while enjoying the learning experience.

In addition to assisting students achieve their riding goals, Kerry has trained horses of all breeds for jumping, dressage, and mountain trail. She specializes in working with off track thoroughbreds, and she has worked with CANTER Ohio doing first rides off the track and training rides to help transition horses to new careers.

In 2021 Kerry was champion of the open training division of the NEOMTA mini trials series with her mare, Happy Eloise, that she purchased as a three year old at the 2017 Mountaineer racetrack auction. She currently trains with ICP4* certified instructor Dr. Susan Hines, and has worked with Jackie Smith of Stone Gate Farm, learning all aspects of running horse trials and shows.

We are a full service stable. We offer lessons in all riding styles. We event, do dressage, hunter, jumper, some western. We have summer camps and also offer camps on school breaks. We believe in offering a wide range of riding activities so our riders can go onto to excel at whatever their passion is. We also have a fabulous tack shop that our riders get a discount in. We also have a United States Pony Club. WE HAVE 35 STALLS, 4 OUTDOOR GRASS PASTURES, AND AN LARGE OUTDOOR AND INDOOR ARENA. We have fun but safe riding lessons. I have been a full time riding instructor for 9 years, I certainly love what I do. I typically start at the age of 5 but I have had some students start as early as 4 years old. Right now my oldest student is 50 so as you can see I have a wide range of ages. I do use my personal horses, I have at times traveled to other barns if need be. My rates are 4-5 year olds are a half an hour private lesson for $15, 6 years old and up is an hour private lessons for $25, group rate for the hour lesson is $5 off each participant.
