Abbie Gibson began riding and showing at the age of 8. After enjoying much success in the equitation ring as a junior she went on to ride for the Skidmore College Equestrian Team. During her time there she helped the team to place consistently in the top 3 at IHSA nationals as well as obtaining individual top 3 placings. After graduating Abbie went on to be the assistant coach for the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Equestrian Team. There she helped coach the team to multiple national championships in the IHSA, ANRC, and Tournament of Champions.

In 2019, Abbie moved to Pennsylvania where she started riding professionally as the assistant coach for Troy Hendrix before starting her own business in 2020.

In 2021, Abbie went on to claim a championship title at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in the Green Working Hunter.

In 2022, She earned the world championship title in the Level 2 Senior Working Hunter as well as top 3 placings in the Working Hunter Derby at Congress and Top 10 finishes as the NSBA World Show.... See More

North Windsor Farm LLC offers lessons for ages 5 and up beginner through advanced, as well as horse training. Our horses are the best of the best as far as safety; they have done it all. Lessons are typically 1 hour and are tailored to each rider's experience. We do not jip rider's time on the horse. We also do evening lessons to accommodate those getting out of school and work. Chrissy began riding hunter/jumper as a young child and learned from many different instructors and horse trainers growing up. As a teen she worked with her sister taking care of 40 horses, many just broke and inexperienced, and she would teach them the basics and to jump. She would ride from sun up to sun down learning from the horses. She also rode with the University of Delaware Equestrian Team for 4 years. She has always gravitated towards working with troubled horses and spent several years as Assistant trainer at a farm that specialized in retraining the unfixables. Our training philosophy focuses on teaching students not only to be successful show riders but also to become successful horsewomen and men. At Ascend Equestrian, we believe that horsemanship starts on the ground and the most successful riders are horsewomen and horsemen first. Riders are taught proper care for the elite equine athlete and encouraged to take an active role in training and caring for their horses. Qualified riders are encouraged to participate in our working student program, which allows riders to help with horse care in the barn and hone their skills.
Emphasis is placed on having a correct and effective rider position as “form follows function”. Flatwork and position are honed in the first 30 minutes of our lessons, with the remaining 30 minutes of lessons dedicated to jumping or ground poles. At Ascend Equestrian, we are careful to not overwork our horses and believe in regular ground pole lessons to reduce strain and occurrence of injury in our horses.

Riders benefit from our head trainer, Sarah Robertson’s, background in Psychology as they learn the necessary mental discipline and focus to reach the highest levels of riding and competition. A heavy emphasis is placed on having active open communication on training issues, thoroughly discussing the topics covered in lessons, and creating understanding on the goals for lessons.

We combine our lessons with reading material, videos (both educational and of oneself) and demonstration rides in order to provide a well-rounded learning experience that is suitable for all learning types. Riders and parents are encouraged to participate in regular meetings with training staff to discuss rider goals, help riders set attainable goals, and create a plan for achieving their goals.

Horses in training benefit from our trainers’ extensive knowledge of horse biomechanics and corrective techniques and exercises. Our goal is not only to train the horse, but to strengthen, condition, and balance the horse in order to ensure optimal health and performance. Training Sessions are combined with lunging, free lunging, sports medicine, chiropractic care, Bemer treatments, supplements and nutrition to create a happier and healthier horse.

All training rides are performed by or under the guidance of our head trainer, Sarah Robertson.
