Hoofbeats in Harmony's Horsemanship Academy is one of a kind! All students entering the program start at Level 1 and graduate after Level 10. Students progress through the levels at their own speed, earning achievement awards when they level up. Each level is divided into 6 categories: Horse Care – Riding – Ground Work – Liberty Training – Physical Fitness – Equine Literature. It is necessary for the student to pass the required tasks in all 6 categories of horsemanship in order move up a level.

When students pass a level, they will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and a patch unique to the level passed that will go on their Hoofbeats in Harmony vest. Students are encouraged to wear their vests to their lessons to showcase their accomplishments.

Heart to Hoof Horsemanship with Yvonne Welz: Riding lessons available for serious students who are interested in learning about classical schooling of the horse using bitless bridles. A focus on natural horse care, barefoot management, and classical techniques that are health promoting. Well-trained bitless schoolhorses are available for riding lessons. They are priceless! Yvonne offers a unique approach to riding and horse care that is centered around what is truly good for the horse.

Current 2023 rates: Private lessons $65 per hour at our facility, which includes the use of one of our schoolhorses.

Yvonne Welz is a professional horsewoman with over 35 years of equine management and training experience. Formerly a competitive dressage rider, she schooled many horses up to an advanced level and achieved national awards with them. Always focused on learning, Yvonne studied the finer art of classical horsemanship even while she was competing. This included the French classical methods, which she learned directly from world class horsemen. She loves passing on this valuable knowledge to her riding students. She has trained many horses from scratch, starting them under saddle and schooling them to higher levels. She finds great joy in teaching horses how to use their bodies in a way that improves them both physically and mentally. She studied several different methods of natural horsemanship, and also trained in equine nutrition, saddle fitting, and barefoot hoof trimming. In 2013, she discovered the bitless wheel bridles and embraced classical riding without the use of bits! Yvonne is an Associate Trainer with the World Bitless Association.

Hi! I’m Desiree. I’m a professional equestrian of over 35 years where I have worked with hundreds of horses and riders all over the USA to help them improve their performance and reach their goals. LIFE SKILLS with HORSES
In my Life Skills with Horses program you find a “horse guided” coaching program that focuses on self-development in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. Interactions with the horse assist in helping you experience deep profound transformation as you gain new insight from the horse’s honest feedback through their intuitive nature.

This unique approach to coaching helps you learn about setting and upholding healthy boundaries, develop clear communication and leadership skills, create more awareness of self and others, learn stress-release techniques and much more. This is an alternate option to Life Coaching that gets you out of the client chair and into self-exploration through a gentle, supportive and interactive way. (This is an “off the horse” program.)

VIRTUAL LIFE COACHING
As a participant in my Virtual Life Coaching program you’ll find a fun and supportive atmosphere where you join “live” group coaching calls each week as you apply tools you are learning to a topic of your choice. In this format you can get coached and learn from seeing others get coached. You also gain access to journals, workbooks, video content, and have the opportunity to work on a monthly topic. This is an affordable option that provides a safe space where you can come and let it all out, work on your goals, and receive support and encouragement from your coach and others in the program.

Virtual Coaching: $19 / month

EQUESTRIAN COACHING
The final option you have in working with me, is on your riding skills. When you work with me as your equestrian coach you get more than a lesson, you get a complete program where you have the opportunity to participant in:

• lessons on the lunge line to improve your:
◦ seat
◦ position
◦ balance
◦ and effectiveness of aids

• ground driving and work on the long lines to improve:
◦ the communication with your horse
◦ develop subtle and effective aids
◦ improve your horse’s balance and responsiveness

Lessons include a variety of formats to best suit your needs including mounted and unmounted games and exercises that improve the relationship with your horse and your overall balance and ability as a rider; jumping, speed events, trail obstacles, etc. You have the opportunity to even learn about barn management, feed and nutrition, trailer safety, and equine care.

In working with me you’ll find someone who:
• prioritizes safety and partnership for both horse and rider
• supports you in setting and achieving your goals

Canopy Oak Trails offers horseback riding
instruction for all levels of riders, from beginner to advanced, western or English. We are fortunate to have several excellent riding instructors, who love teaching beginners & kids. They also teach refresher lessons for those that haven’t ridden in many years.
They can nurture those that may have had bad experiences & wish to regain their confidence in a secure, safe environment. Lessons are available for advanced riders in jumping, dressage & eventing.

We have a 50’ wooden round pen, an arena with great footing & jumps, dressage letters, barrels for barrel racing & an agility course. There are also excellent trails -- lot's of them to enjoy, for those that have the skills to be safe on the trails.

We have many Western & English bridles/saddles of various sizes available for your use, as well as helmets, crops, saddlebags, etc.

Group lessons (usually 2 or 3 students) are $45, for one hour. Private lessons are $45 for a half hour lesson and $90 for a full hour lesson. Once proficient with grooming & tacking, students can arrive half an hour early to groom/tack/warm up before the lesson (and cool down untack, after the lesson is over).
